Handsome cabinets!CabinetMakerMarianneI bought 4 of these cabinets last month for my dining room. They look very nice and the option of glass doors make them look even nicer. There are, however, 2 downsides: first, it was more difficult that it was with past purchases to align the 3 doors on each cabinet. Second, the folded back is less sturdy than in previous cabinets. There appears to have been a drop in the quality of the back. For those 2 reasons I would give the cabinets a 3.0 or 3.5, rather than a higher rating.3
Really disappointed in BestaGPSDenverWhile I did not buy this specific configuration, I bought a customized configuration of three tall Besta storage towers, with a mix of small and large drawers, and shelves and doors. I was totally underwhelmed by the quality and design. The push open soft touch drawers sit removed quite a but from flush with the frame, meaning they are then not flush with the doors. The assembly instructions are awful with a custom unit as there are no unified instructions for the whole job, just each individual piece. And the cam locks are now plastic not metal, very flimsy!1
Engineering issuesgood luckPurchased this unit at a store in January, 2019. While the unit looks nice it has issues. When assembled with the soft close hinges on the outside of the unit(as it should be) there is no easy way to open the bottom two doors since they are all flush, and have to be opened from the middle. The only way is to open the top door to get access to the door below. Called Ikea to see if I was missing something, they suggested I also use to push open latch, but once you do that the door won't soft close unless you push in the push/open latch before you close the door. Kind of defeats the purpose of a soft close hinge. I would rate the assembly moderate, especially since one set of hinges was defective. When I called to see if I could get a replacement hinge mailed they could not ship one since I purchased the unit at the store, stating I would have to get it replaced at the store (50 miles away). What ever happened to customer service?2
Worst Ikea purchase for difficulty of assemblyJeanne22While the finished piece fits my needs, the process of putting it together was the worst I've had with any piece of Ikea furniture. The hinges simply would not screw tightly in place, and the force needed to turn the screws to secure them threatened to strip the screws. What should have taken an hour took more than two and left one hinge still not quite flush with the side. Lastly, the wall projections at the top rear were clearly designed to be secured by a screw from the interior, but said screw did not engage with the extension. I don't think this is a hazard, as the plastic parts are secure enough to fulfill their purpose and wall anchors provide needed anti-tip protection.3
Great designslsgrabIt was easy to put together and looks sharp in my kitchen. I'm very happy I got it.4
