When the assembled lamp stands next to the packaging, it can be hard to see how it can fit there at all. A part of the explanation is the cross-shaped base. “We realised that we could make a cross instead of a round base – both to save material and to make the lamp dividable. The cross also adds a unique design element.” The lampshade is made of soft plastic and rolled up like a tube in the packaging. When mounted on the lamp base, it spreads the light both evenly and beautifully.

Great bedside lampMirandaEasy to put together, sturdy. Once you finally figure out the instructions for the lampshade then it’s just fine and it holds together just fine. I think maybe people are not quite understanding how it works. You have to turn the shade in the opposite direction of how it was rolled up so that pressure holds the tabs in place. Also, if you push in the little legs that hold the shade they don’t fall out. It’s a very nice little lamp

Poor packing designRyanThe lamp itself was super easy to put together, I think it took me less than two minutes. The annoying bit is the lampshade. The instructions weren’t entirely clear, and I’ll admit it took me reading a couple of the comments here for it to click that I was putting it together backwards. Once you get it the right way though, it still looks severely warped and misshapen because it’s rolled inside the box. To be fair, I don’t know a better solution, and it’s a dirt cheap item anyway, but surely there’s a better way to get these to customers than a way that destroys the lampshade?
Either way, decent enough lamp. Just be aware that the shade is going to be hideous no matter what you do

Excellent without the shade!EdwardNot a fan of the shade, but if you use the lamp without the shade, there are a variety of light bulbs you can use. I have even used C7 Christmas light bulbs. The socket takes any kind of 'candelabra' bulb. Looks very cool, sort of industrial or utilitarian. Very cool the way the cord follows down from the socked along the stem. So, skip the shade, and use it alone with some interesting and cool light bulbs.

Great for small/narrow side tables. AltheaIts light weight and can knock over easy though. But, it does its job. Nice light, pay attention to the light bulb you get rather its a warm or cool tone. Their cool tone lights are quite bright. I WISH THEY WOULD HURRY UP AND GET THE FLOOR LAMPS BACK IN. Been out of stock all summer.
When putting this together dont forget to roll the shade in the opposite direction for a minute because it helps with putting it together and the tension it needs. The arrows are on the outside part and easy to remove the tape if you do it correctly. Just start at the bottom when putting the shade together and dont use force because you dont want to bend it. I got a few of these because they are so cute and the box it comes in can store in a drawer until I need to use another one.
I really like these. Well worth the few bucks and dont forget the lights.
Great for the priceErinI don't think you can find a more affordable lamp! It provides the perfect amount of light for a bedside table or similar task lighting situation. That being said, it is very finicky to put together and is easy to knock the shade off/ lamp over.

Big design in a small package
Every now and then you need to think outside the famous box to achieve something innovative. But, when we developed BARLAST lamp, we instead stayed inside the box. The goal was a really good lamp at a really good price, and that made the packaging a decisive starting point. From there, we worked our way backwards with materials and design.
Cecilia Sondell Banke, one of our product engineers involved in the work with BARLAST, explains why the packaging can be so crucial for the price: “Transportation is often an essential part of the product cost. By packing the lamp efficiently, we avoid transporting air, and the total cost becomes lower.”

To secure stability and that BARLAST fulfils all legal demands, we made thorough calculations and tough tests. “The products with the lowest price are often the most challenging to develop. All our specialists need to be onboard from the start, and we have to think through the whole process step by step. But, they are also very creative projects that we learn a lot from. And when it comes to BARLAST it resulted in a really nice lamp in a small package,” Cecilia sums up.
