Not goodTonjaI purchased several of the paper floor lamps years ago and they no longer carry them. The newer version is flimsy at best. Plastic with no support. I ended up throwing it away and just keeping the paper shade, which is all I needed, but I was informed you can't just by the shade :(
TrashAngelicaBought it today. Should have read the reviews. One lamp was missing a rod and u literally do need glue or tape. I’ll be returning asap
What's the fuss?MeganIt only took me about an hour over the course of 3 days to put together this lamp using tape and super glue.
(Also, it is small!)
Love it!AmyI’m very happy with the quality (and affordable price) of this lamp! The base is sturdy and the shade fits well. It’s perfect for the accent lighting my living room needed! I also like the face that the switch is the kind that you can push on/off with your foot because that is more adaptable for my family’s mobility needs than traditional lamp switches. If the switch is on the floor I can use my cane (walking stick) to push it. Right now the switch is on an ottoman by the outlet and I can just push it with my hand. This may seem like a very simple detail to most customers but for people with mobility issues it’s really important.
Impossible to put together RyleighThis is the most cheaply made thing I’ve ever bought from IKEA. The lantern doesn’t stay in place at the bottom where the notches are, makes it impossible to finish putting it together.
Failed at step 2MatthewCannot complete step 2 of the assembly instructions. The bottom of the vertical piece has flattened sides so that it will only fit through the holes in the parts from step 1 a certain way. However, the holes in the 3 pieces from step 1 don't align in a way that let's you insert the vertical rod past the first opening. They are all out of alignment. Please fix your tooling so that these work correctly. $20 wasted.
Negative StarsJaydaI previously had a version of this lamp that lasted so many years. It finally died so I tried to replace it with this lamp. Followed assembly instructions and before I had even stretched the shade over the frame it ripped in multiple places. If I could leave negative stars I would. What a piece of junk and a waste of money. I started a return but its not worth the 45min drive to Ikea to return it. Bleh
AMAZING DEAL! I LOVE IT! KianeeI was hesitant on purchasing because of the negative reviews, but I’m so glad I decided to try it out for myself. I’m in love with the final product. My living room look is elevated and cozy. It was very easy to put together, just be gentle when putting parts together and don’t force parts to click. It is thinner and can be flimsy, but it stays in place when I adjust. For the most part I have not adjusted often. You’ll miss out on this product if you listen to the negative reviews. It really is a steal!!!! Go for it.
Broken (melted?) pieces without replacement option.AnaOrdered this lamp understanding that it wouldn't be the most solid option given the price, however when I went to assemble it, one of the plastic pieces was broken - not snapped or anything, but almost melted? Or simply not built correctly and does not function as intended. The lamp cannot be assembled without this part, and unfortunately, there is no part replacement number provided nor option in the replacement website. I live over two hours from an Ikea store, so going to replace the part is not an option. The chat was unavailable when I sought help (despite visiting during the provided hours) and directed me to visit a store in person. I am not sure how to proceed and am dissapointed that I may have to throw out the whole lamp over this one tiny piece.
Don’t BotherVeronicaThe pieces that surround the lightbulb constantly pop out despite hearing a click. Fail on IKEA’s design and implementation.
ElevationBrooklynBest. Lamp. Ever.
Absolutely worth it. Immediately elevated our space. Looveeee
Shockingly horrible. Very un-IKEA design.ShannaBelieve the negative reviews on this one. Right away, even opening the box, the assembly was counterintuitive and maddening. It’s crooked, falls apart repeatedly, then a weld broke before assembly of this janky, sideways lamp was even complete. Disappointed that IKEA is peddling a product with design this poor.
Worst item I've purchasedBrendanNearly furnished an entire condo with IKEA and a lot of items have been hit or miss (mostly hits) but this lamp is bottom of the list. The leg broke (first step in building) and it got worse from there. Things don't align it's incredibly flimsy and I will now make a 20 minute drive for a $20 return just based on principle. Couldn't suggest this any less
They’re perfect!YvetteThese lamps are perfect for our home. We don’t have kids so we’re not worried that they’re too flimsy. Be gentle when opening package and setting up and you’ll be fine. Don’t understand why others didn’t like them. I’d add a pic but there’s no option to share.
Soft lightingEricPurchased these subtle lights with black out curtains to reduce glare on my TV. Maybe I need another one…
Nice Warm GlowNeilPleasantly surprised with this lamp. I was definitely hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews but this is much nicer than I expected for the price. It went together quite easily without any issues and is also sturdier than some reviews made it seem. I can pick the lamp up by the top and it doesn't implode or rip. It looks great in our space and has a nice warm glow.
HORRIBLEEEEAnonymous reviewerThis thing isn't worth the dust you blow to build it. literally one of the most unsteady, cheaply built products i've ever had the dissatisfaction of having to assemble. the little twink poles they give you don't even hold a lightbulb up properly. don't waste your effort and money getting this.
Worth the buyClairewas nervous of the reviews about assembly - it’s definitely not the highest quality lamp but for $20 it’s a great purchase. instructions were pretty straightforward to put together, and I was gentle with the product given reviews and had no problems. have moved it around my apt a few times, just use extra caution and you should be fine
FlimsyRaoulPretty poor quality. Managed to break all 3 plastic bits on the base while inserting the rods. Finally the paper ripped during final assembly
Absolutely junkDavidNot quite as sturdy as a house of cards in a windstorm.
This thing is absolutely worthless. If it does stand up, it’s crooked. But don’t worry, it rarely stands up. It will continue to fall apart.
I suggest assembling it EXACTLY where you plan on using it, because if you don’t, you will be re-assembling it again when you get there.
