Product details

25-year Limited Warranty. Read about the terms in the Limited Warranty brochure.

The worktop is made of particle board covered with a top layer of solid wood. This method allows us to use less wood in production.

You can cut the countertop to the length you want and cover the edges with the 2 included edging strips.

Countertop with a thick walnut veneer, a durable natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.

Layer construction adds stability and makes the countertop less sensitive to humidity, thus, less likely to bend, split or crack than solid wood.

For quick installation and easy maintenance the countertop is pre-treated with hard wax oil.

The countertop has a chevron design that gives it a sophisticated look that supports all kitchen styles.

Good to know

Walnut is a straight-grained hardwood with good stability and strength properties. It gets lighter as it ages – from the dark brown to a rich honey color that appears through the grain.

Not suitable for use in damp rooms.

Please note that the actual colors of our products may vary slightly from the colors shown online.

Not suitable for outdoor use.

Every worktop is unique, with varying grain pattern and natural color shifts that are part of the charm of wood.

Materials and care

Material

Top/ Edge:
Thick walnut veneer, Oil-acrylic
Back side:
Laminate
Main parts:
Particleboard

Care

Areas where the countertop may dry out, such as edges and areas around the sink and cooktop, require frequent treatment.

The worktop surface is pre-treated at the factory with hard wax oil. Due to the nature of the material, treat the edges and cut-outs with wood treatment oil, prior to installation.

To ensure that your worktop ages gracefully, treat it regularly with wood treatment oil; it gives the surface a beautiful sheen, protects the wood and prolongs the life of the worktop.

Safety and compliance

Supporting legs are required when an overhang exceeds 10". The maximum distance between these legs should not be more than 32".

Great lookCarlaLove the look of the countertop. But it’s a little long, we are going to have to cut it but the extra veneer pieces that came with it don’t match the countertop top. It’s a much lighter color. Anyone else experience this? Does @Ikea sell the right color pieces?4
looks great but senitive for scratchesGabrieleThis countertop looks stunning with my white kitchen, but after 3 weeks I have scraches from moving a cutting board ?! and from opening a can.3
They have worn beautifully since the fall of 2019! A very well made product!!!Anonymous reviewerI highly recommend these countertops, and wish I could post a pic of my kitchen because I get more compliments on these countertops than I can count. Installed in 2019, and we are cooks, we use the crap out of our kitchen, I was nervous putting in this product, but for the price and the look of it I thought it worth the risk. The wear and tear from the last 4+ yrs only makes them look more like real wood. We use our granite island to put hot things down and to do all of our food prep, but these are around our farm sink, ovens and the stove top, and they have held up really well against heat, oil and water. In fact any oil has proven to work well on them. I also have them on my bar top, we had to customize the strip for the raw side with liquid nails and sanded the edges down to smooth the seam..again wish I could post a pic, they are absolutely beautiful! And incredibly affordable, when I tell people how much my countertops cost they do not believe me. 5
Nice Veneer CountertopCarletonA good looking veneer tabletop. I installed it fairly easily, cuts easily and doesn't splinter. Time will tell on the durability but for the price, it's a nice option. 5
Inconsistent coloringKaitlinI ordered two pieces and they are drastically different colors. Very disappointed that they are not able to send similar batches when ordered together.1
Perfect for my application!ChristopherUsing this as a bar top for our new basement bar. Perfect size and thickness. I'm planning on getting another one for another application.5
Beware product color differs greatlyCibellePurchased three of them and they were vastly different colors, ranging from a light golden to dark walnut. No way to check the color before purchasing, and we couldn't find matching ones after two rounds of exchanges1
Good counterBrandyIt was exactly what I expected. Perfect for my kitchen5
Love this counter topKatheranThis is my favorite countertop, I have used it on a few jobs5
Love the look and qualityAntoinetteLove the look and quality of this piece5
Gorgeous countertopMarisaI love this countertop so much in my remodeled kitchen. The warmth of the walnut is beautiful, and the chevron pattern adds visual interest. It was so easy to install too. I even was able to cut out the hole for my sink myself with a jigsaw. It's a versatile piece, because we used the excess of one piece to create a bench in our mud room by adding hairpin legs. Very happy with this purchase, and would buy it again.5
Beautiful ... BUT!PhilThese countertops are beautiful! What they do not tell you is that the countertop is not solid butcher block, only the top and sides are butcher block finish, which works in some applications but not all. If you cut it you will not have a butcher block finish at the cut, they provide glue on strips to finish the edges and the back of the countertop is a felt material not the finish you see! But a stunning piece. Also, if you buy two or more to attach they most likely will NOT be an exact match in finish!5
Love itAllisonLooks beautiful but does scratch easily.5
Stunning top!MichaelWe got the 98” for a 2 person desk. My mom loved the finish so much she got the 74”, as it’s beauty belies the reasonable price. Very solid, well made, and a treat to look at.5
Very nice product! Looks greatRobertVery nice product! Looks great and works well as a desktop.5
Like the patternKimberlyUsed this to make a counter top for a small bathroom vanity that my husband made out of walnut and it matched perfectly. Not completely convinced that it would hold up if used every day-especially in a kitchen-but it worked great for our purposes.4
So beautiful!ElizabethSo beautiful! I love these countertops. They have a very thick wear layer and are easy to customize.5

Like the countertops but....KrisI bought (2) 6 footers and (2) 8 footers. I didn’t receive the 8 footers and was told I would get a store credit...haven’t seen it yet but I’m guessing that may have something to do with Covid. In short, the 3 stars are more for the customer service than the product, countertops are nice for the price....unless you get half your order, then you could get really expensive granite for the same price.3
Looks great!AnonymousWe purchased this countertop to cover a run of cabinets in our basement. After pricing out other options, this was clearly our winner. The design is interesting and the quality of the top is good. We did not have to cut it in anyway so I can’t speak to how the replacement edging would apply. I would suggest checking the countertop in the store by opening the packaging. Several of them had been damaged in shipping. It took us a few tries before we found one in pristine condition in the box. I gave it a four star on quality simply because it is not solid wood, but I knew this going in and it is to be expected given the price point.5

Better countertops with fewer trees

At IKEA we have a tradition of trying to utilize materials in the best possible way. For our countertops in thick veneer it means that we combine old craftsmanship with modern manufacturing methods. It makes the countertops easier to install, more stable and more resistant to humidity compared to solid countertops. And since we use the whole tree – even the crooked branches and the small twigs – we can save natural resources too.

Better worktops by using wood smartly

Wood is a precious natural resource. Even though it’s a renewable material it needs to be handled responsibly. One way to do it, is to use the wood more efficiently. That’s what we do with our kitchen worktops in thick wood veneer.

“At IKEA we have a tradition of trying to utilize the materials we have in the best possible way,” says Johnny Rietz, who’s been involved in developing the kitchen worktops in thick veneer. The work started in 2008 when IKEA founder, Ingvar Kamprad, visited one of our suppliers and asked a simple question that took some time to answer: ‘How can we make this product using fewer trees?’

Less is more

“After some trials and errors, we came up with the solution. A core of particleboard and a layer of solid wood on the outside – or thick veneer,” says Johnny. “It’s a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern manufacturing methods. Paper-thin veneer has been used in fine, decorative furniture making for centuries, but for our worktops we’re using a much thicker layer of wood.” The thick veneer makes the surface hardwearing, and it saves raw material – a lot of it. From the same amount of wood needed to make one solid worktop, it’s possible to produce five thick veneer worktops.

No wood is wasted

Another advantage with this production technique is that you can use the whole tree; the stem as surface, and scrap bits – curvy, bent branches and small twigs – for the particleboard on the inside. The end result is a worktop that is every bit as genuine as solid wood, only more stable and more resistant to humidity. “Sometimes a small, harmless question can make a big difference. That’s exactly what happened with our kitchen worktops. It started as a challenge to use resources wiser, and proved to have positive effects not only for the environment, but also the quality. I think it’s great when that happens!” says Johnny.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.

Built and tested to last

We believe that our kitchen countertops should meet your highest demands when it comes to design and performance, without compromise. That’s why we test our countertops, and put them up against the everyday challenges they’ll face in your kitchen: liquids, oil, food, steam, heat, bumps and scratches. When they’ve passed our testing, we know they’ll last, and we guarantee it with our 25 year limited warranty.
