Rickety and just ok. Disappointed.WylijannaEasy to put together, but rickety is all get out. I don't know if it's because the holes for mine don't lineup completely or what, but it rattles and shakes at the slightest touch. I don't know if I somehow missed this in the specifications or description, but it is mostly for display. I don't know how this swiss cheese claptrap could be used to sprout seeds (unless I'm wrong. I genuinely didn't read any reviews before I bought it). It's fine for what it is, but it's flimsier than I expected. I just wish this was reflected in the cost.
the whole thing is so unstableShirleyyou move it a little bit the whole falls apart. Plus the screws? you call that screws to hold the top one to the main part? you can't even put it in without the whole thing coming apart all the time. plus the screws doesn't even fit together !!!!! waste of time & money !!! returning it back !!!
not even worth upload images.
Adorable but crack in the panelJenniferI absolutely adore this greenhouse, but I am crushed because one of the panels has a crack in it, and I do not live close to an IKEA store to return it.
Great for plantsRobinI love my Akerbar. I made a Terrarium out of it. It took some time to know how to do it but it worked out right. I used some clear silicone sealant, two-sided tape and a sponge-type lining. I put Leca and moss on the bottom and water every few days but keeps the humidity above 70-96%. My special begonia terrarium plants are growing beautifully in it. Just use a Barrina yellow LED light and they love it.
Nice for the priceAliciaI'm generally pleased. Very easy to put together. NOTE: it's easier to remove the plexiglass first in order to remove the protective film! But it comes together in 5-10 minutes. IF you expect humidity in the 90s, expect to weather seal because there's big gaps- it's NOT airtight! That took some time and patience! It's a little "janky" if you plan on lifting the entire glass top off frequently. I'd plan on just using the wide door! I also wish IKEA would sell a liner pan for the bottom to put soil in - had a hard time finding one that fit. I added LED grow lights and a hygrometer to monitor humidity and now I have a happy tropical terrarium! Complements my Blaliden and Milsbo Wide plant cabinets nicely. For the 17" model, I was able to fit eight 2.5" plants nicely inside the liner box with proper drainage LECA and terrarium soil. Very pleased. I also sprayed two clear coats on the base before I even assembled to protect it from water. Fir the price, I really like it!
Not durableAnonymousEasy to assemble, and I left mine outside on our balcony. Unfortunately, some parts maybe rusted? And caused connecting parts to break. There's no way for me to fix unless I use some sort of strong glue. It's just built a little poorly and is not sustainable.
Nice for the balconyJerrieI was looking for something to highlight my succulents on my balcony and I've always wanted a green house so this was perfect. It was a bit difficult to remove the protective covering on one side of the glass so I took my ceramic knife and cut along the edge of the glass and it was easy to remove.
GreenhouseCeliaEasy to order, assemble, & arrived via shipping as stated.
Great for smaller spaces!KatherineI have several Fjallbo units and the black greenhouse matches up with them nicely. For some reason, the plastic sheeting pulled off easier on the smaller greenhouse than the larger, so that made it easier to put it together.
TerrariumKimI love the design and the easy access from the front door. However, getting the plastic off the glass was a real challenge. It’s also awkward not to have any way to lock the bottom tray on. Just a little flimsy, but overall a fun purchase.
Nice display caseRachelI feel it is a little unsteady but once in place it is a good place to display small plants
Unique itemCarolI saw this and loved it! Big enough for three plants. Easy to assemble. I like that the tray comes out for cleaning. Highly recommend. The one that was on display had a lesser price of the one in the carton, but she honored that price.
Good for displaying figures, one star off for misalignmentC.I'm using this to display 1/6-figures, Barbies, and Integrity Toys dolls, and the height is more than ample. I knocked off a star because the section that's pre-assembled--the top and hinged front--is misaligned. The crooked gap is currently driving me to distraction, and I hope that in time I'll stop seeing it. The "greenhouse" top simply rests on the tray, is not attached to it. The most onerous part of assembly is removing the protective film from all the Plexiglas. Note that the hooks that hold the windows in are soft, so you can bend them and remove the sheets and strip off the film; note that the hooks are soft, so be wary of metal fatigue when bending them back and forth. The little pins to attach the front and top to the rest of the piece clearly hate humanity, but they can be wrangled into place, and it was all very straightforward. Would I buy another? Yeah. I just really, really wish the front, pre-assembled piece wasn't crooked, argh.
Purpose fulfilled for the qualityNataleeWhat a cute charming greenhouse for your small plant collection. Its not stable, however, its secured once in place.
$40 for weak structureLilyLooked nice in the store, but I didn't know the assembly was so shoddy. The base doesn't attach, but that's okay. The problem is the frame is held together by 4 plastic fasteners. You have to perfectly align the holes before inserting too, or the pins go in lopsided and falls out, then you have to pry apart with a knife. I'm also very dexterous with my fingers, but the amount of times I dropped these tiny plastic pins trying to get them in was annoying. A lot of weight is going to rest on those plastic fasteners every time you want to move this if you can't pick it up by the tray and it's extremely rickety. Might have to secure this with zip ties. I think it's unfortunate that at $40, IKEA can't afford everyone 4 tiny metal screws and hex heads. Will keep it for now, I want to see how long the fasteners last.
Works for what I want except needs improvemntsJillThe improvements; 1. The bottom tray needs to have away to attach to the greenhouse frame. This part is unstable. 2. Instructions should note a second person would be helpful to hold sides while assembling. Otherwise love the design and it can be multifunctional.
Cracked PlexiglassJudithI actually really like the product although I do wish it was sturdier, it bends easily because of what its made of. I wish I had read the product discription better & I probably wouldnt of ordered. It didnt cost that much so I am not that upset however the plexiglass on the right side & on the left front of the top portion are both cracked. Tried to find a place to just order those pieces but couldnt so I guess I am stuck with cracks.
Requires screws- not includedCarlaI am legally blind, and have been an IKEA customer for decades. I have noticed that in the last 15 years the quality of the fasteners, instructions and products themselves have declined. This product included plastic 'fasteners' instead of screws that secured the frame together. They are impossible to see, and to manipulate. I have NEVER had so much trouble with an IKEA product before. Because I cannot drive, I will not be able to return to the store anytime soon to return the item, or even go to a hardware store and spend more money to find a screw and nut to hold the frame together. In the meantime, this item is just sitting unusable, and I am feeling frustrated and depressed.
Just what I needed..RoyThe greenhouse met my expectations, especially the price point and easy assembly. So, I bought two.
Joyous humidityNathanielKeeps my plants damp
