Can I modify IKEA products?
Any modifications made to a product may void the warranty, as it may damage the integrity of the product's structure. Things like drilling extra holes, purposely skipping a step in the instructions (incomplete assembly) or some "hacks" are considered product modifications. Please carefully read and follow the assembly instructions for your product. Products that are found be modified are subject to inspection and may not be accepted as a return or exchange. Products with tipover-prevention hardware must be anchored to the wall per the assembly instructions.
In most cases, adding handles, legs or paint (for example) is not considered a product modification. Make it your own!
