That means 3 layers at the punched hole layer.
This will enhance to withstand the constant pulling and closing of the shower screen.
The top end of the width where the punched holes are located should have a hole nearer the vertical and top horizontal edge.
This will prevent very easy tearing/ shearing of the plastic shower screen due to pulling.
