IKEA and Just a Change together against housing poverty
In Portugal, housing poverty affects more than 625,000 Portuguese people. 50,000 people in Portugal live without sanitation, 44,000 without running water and 165,000 do not have the financial capacity to keep their homes warm.

The importance of home - as a safe and comfortable space
We remain focused on the importance of homes and the right we all have to a safe, comfortable and dignified home. Unfortunately, in Portugal, housing poverty affects more than 625,000 Portuguese people. 50,000 people in Portugal live without sanitation, 44,000 without running water and 165,000 do not have the financial means to keep their homes warm.
Aware of this problem, IKEA has partnered with Just a Change since 2019 to change this reality.

Partnership with Just a Change
Since 2019, we have donated more than 270 thousand euros, distributed across different projects, which have brought significant improvements to the homes of people identified as being in poor housing, but also to the daily lives of institutionalized people.
Since 2022, this partnership has provided for a regular financial donation that supports Just a Change in its activity and allows IKEA employees to be involved in this same activity, and in this way, together, we help people in housing poverty to have a home where they feel safe and comfortable.
As part of this partnership, IKEA Portugal has already supported the rehabilitation of 63 homes, bringing positive changes to the lives of 107 people. Through volunteer initiatives, it has supported the rehabilitation of 10 institutions, impacting more than 600 users and involving 341 volunteers.
