Social impact

Lets help together
From February 11th to March 1st, we are joining forces to support the populations affected by the storms in our country, with Cáritas Portuguesa and Just a Change.
By contributing a donation of 1€ at the checkout counters of IKEA stores, we will match the donated amount.*
Together, we can make a difference.
Support for victims of domestic violence
We have joined forces with the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) to support victims of domestic violence. Through an empowerment fund and support through the helpline, we work to ensure a safe and dignified home, helping women to restart their lives.
We are allies of the LGBT+ community
Our goal is to create a fully inclusive work environment and provide equal opportunities regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Combating housing poverty
IKEA and Just a Change join forces to combat housing poverty in Portugal. Together, they are providing hundreds of people with a safe, comfortable and dignified home through donations worth over €270,000 to rehabilitation projects and support for Just a Change’s activities.
Comfort and dignity for the homeless
We are aware that many homeless people do not have the comfort of a bed or a room to rest in every night. That is why we are starting a partnership with CASA - Centro de Apoio ao Sem Abrigo.
What does CASA do?
It helps homeless people, people at risk or families in need, through social solidarity actions, providing close contact, food, clothing and social reintegration services, regardless of social class, ethnicity, religion or gender.
What are CASA's areas of activity?

IKEA sustainability ambitions for 2030
The IKEA Sustainability Strategy – People & Planet Positive – sets out our goals for transforming the IKEA business, the industries in the IKEA value chain and life at home for people all across the world.
A little place mat that makes a big difference
Made from Vietnamese water hyacinth, SOARÉ may seem like a simple place mat. However, it also keeps local waterways passable, preserves traditional handicrafts and earns the weavers extra money.
Promoting ethical hand-weaving
Together with our suppliers, we’re working to improve the way hand-made rugs are produced in India and Bangladesh, ensuring more care for the environment, good working conditions and better gender equality.
