How to calculate how much decking you need

Creating an inviting outdoor space with floor decking that clicks together is easy when you’ve worked out how much flooring to buy. Check out our simple guide below to find out how much flooring you need.

1. Find the surface area

Start by measuring the length and width of your outdoor space. To find the total area, multiply the length by the width. You can then calculate any areas to be subtracted from the total, such as pillars or corners, using the same method.

2. Calculate how many packages you need

Look for the total area included in each pack of floor decking, and divide that number by your surface area. For example, square tiles come in packs that cover 0.81 square metres, so you need to divide the surface area you found by 0.81. Don’t forget to round up the number so you have enough tiles.
