Exactly what I wantedMartaIt's easy to assemble, it's cute and easy to clean and it's exactly what I wanted. I will say tho, when assembling the back panel, since it doesn't already have the marks for the screws, I put a whole through it instead of it going into the middle shelf. That I didn't love. But maybe it was a me thing.4

One of my favorite ikea products. Variety of colors to choose from, we own white, blue and oak. Some open, some with solid doors and some with glass doors.

I love the Billy bookcases; you can use them in so many ways. Great quality product. And I'm so happy they also have doors for Billy bookcases in case you want to protect something.

Material

What is particleboard?

Particleboard is made from recycled wood and sawmill leftovers – so wood pieces with the wrong shade, woodchips and sawdust become a resource instead of possibly being discarded. We use boards for things like bookcases, bed frames, sofas and kitchen frames. To protect from wear and moisture, we apply varnish, veneer or foil that adds to the furniture's look.

"When I got the assignment to design a simple, functional and smart storage for books, I couldn’t have imagined that BILLY bookcase would wind up in so many homes across the world. I remember being especially pleased with the adjustable shelves and the depth of the bookcase – perfect for books. We were also able to transport it in a flat pack - an idea I was actually first to develop. The bookcase is one of my favourites and I hope it will be around for many more years."
