What is an energy label?
Energy labels are an important tool for consumers to better understand and compare the efficiency of bulbs and lamps with integrated LEDs. They can help you to make more sustainable choices and thus save on electricity consumption.
The new label on the market
Product energy labels are going to change but the quality and guarantee of our products remains the same. In order to make the information available on the energy label clearer, the European Union has revised and optimised the label according to consumer needs and the scale will now be from A to G.
What is going to change on energy labels?
The new labels have a new format and graphics, but they also introduce a new and more demanding methodology for calculating the energy classes of products. As such, the energy classes shown on the new labels and on the old ones will be different and not comparable, and the new energy labels are expected to have a lower efficiency class.
This differentiation will make it easier to identify the most efficient products.
What IKEA products will have new labels in 2021?
The introduction of the new energy labels will be organised in stages, depending on the specific regulations of the European Union. On September 1, 2021, the new labels will be implemented in physical and online stores for the following IKEA items:
- LED Bulbs
- Integrated LED Lamps
Will there be any changes to IKEA products?
IKEA products will maintain the quality we are so proud of. It is important to stress that while the energy efficiency classes on the new labels are different, the energy performance of the product remains the same – what changes is how this performance is rated. The difference is in the energy efficiency index and the way products are tested for the new labels compared to the old version.
When will the new labels come into effect?
From September 1, 2021, new integrated LED bulbs and lamps in stores and online will have to carry the new energy label. Until February 2023 we will still be able to sell items with the old energy label.
With this change, will there be changes in the product guarantees and aftersales service?
