How does IKEA nursery and nursery planning work?

The IKEA Child and Baby Room Planning Service is a free planning service available online. The planning session lasts approximately 45 minutes. You can also create a plan for your child's or baby's room using one of our free online planning tools.

During the planning meeting for an IKEA children's room or nursery, you'll meet an expert online from the comfort of your own home. The specialist will help you plan the layout of the children's room or nursery's room, as well as the furniture and wardrobe, to organize your little one's space.
How it works:
  1. Inspire herself. Spend some time on browsing children's bedroom ideas and discovering them all our free online 3D planners. Take notes on the styles, colours, products and ideas you like, so it's easier for the expert to understand your design preferences and aesthetics.

If you use one of our online planning tools to create yourchildren's bedroom & nursery design, be sure to save the design code. You’ll need it to edit your plan later or to use it during a planning session with a Specialist. You can find your planning code at the end of the planning tool page by selecting 'Finalise'. If you prefer to receive a link or an email with your specific design and planning code, select 'Save for later' and follow the on‑screen steps.
  2. Book an appointment You can choose to book your session online.
  3. Measure the space. The IKEA planning specialist will need details about the space or room. Record measurements of height, width and depth as well as positions/dimensions of electrical outlets, doors, windows, etc.
  4. What do you need? Make a list of all your essential needs and wishes to create a dream space for your child.
  5. Take pictures. A drawing or a photograph of the space can be very useful.
  6. Need to reschedule or cancel your session? Use the link in the confirmation email if you need to reschedule or cancel your planning session. Please do it with at least 1 hour in advance of the scheduled session.
  7. Discuss your dreams and wishes with an IKEA children's bedroom & nursery specialist during your appointment. You will receive a 3D plan and a shopping list with everything you need. The planning appointment will last approximately 45 minute going to the plan that was emailed to you. Once you're happy with the final plan, visit IKEA in store or Contact us to finalize your order.
