What is Rede ¼ and how is IKEA involved?

Rede ¼ is a NOVA University Lisbon project that wants to help solve the housing crisis by connecting people with available rooms to students in need of accommodation.

In partnership with IKEA Portugal, the aim is to offer students a decent and affordable space, while the hosts earn extra income.

IKEA Portugal supports the project with furniture and decoration solutions to equip the rooms, creating a comfortable environment for the students. In addition, the first 50 students to book a room receive a €50 IKEA card to personalise the space.

The project brings mutual benefits: hosts can benefit from IRS exemption and offer safe and stable accommodation, while students have access to affordable rooms with secure contracts and support throughout the process.

The Rede ¼ platform will be launched in 2025, but it is already possible to register on the site, initially for NOVA University students. The main criterion is to guarantee affordable rents, up to 20 per cent below market value, with the possibility of IRS/IRC exemption, benefiting both students and hosts.
