The inner cushion may have a slight natural smell from the down and feathers. It’s harmless and fades over time. Airing or washing it and drying it thoroughly in a dryer helps the smell fade faster.

I already left it under the sun for days, and even had it professionally washed with fabric conditioner and perfume, but the smell is still there. I honestly don’t know anymore — it seems like the material inside itself smells really fishy/off.1
Smells like Birds.ReiI understand this product is made from duck down or feathers, but the smell is extremely strong, like it came straight from a poultry farm. I grew up near one, so I know exactly what that smell is. I tried the recommended methods online to remove the odor, but nothing worked. Unfortunately, I bought three of them. If you want your house to smell like a poultry farm, or, as others describe it, like a kennel, then this product may be for you. Otherwise, I would recommend looking elsewhere.1
