Even Victorinox failed me, spectacularly and expensively. This just works!
Also the bit that holds the garlic clove comes out, so easier to tip into pots/bowls, as well as easier for washing thoroughly.
Feels good in the hand too. The Vardagen version *may* be slightly more ergonomic — but I suspect this will hold up better to finding itself in a dishwasher or rinsed in hard water.
Teensy niggle and that's a very subjective aesthetic one — I'd prefer a slightly rounded set of handles (the tips, vs the cut-off look) — but that's a minuscule compromise for something that works well and effortlessly even for weak / small hands (like children's!) and is anyway not meant to stay out on the counter5
