Do I need a receipt for returns and how are the refunds made?

The original receipt or proof of purchase is required for returns and refunds will be made back to the original method of purchase.

Your IKEA receipt will clearly state the purchase method (including last 4 digits of the card used to purchase). IKEA can only provide returns where the original card is present. Any item purchased during a promotional period will only receive a pro-rata refund (less the promotional discount).

If you can no longer find your receipt, you can log into your IKEA Family account and head to your 'Purchase history' tab to find your receipt, if your IKEA Family card was presented during purchase. If it was not logged under your IKEA Family account but you made the purchase in an IKEA store, a store co-worker might be able to look up your store receipt with a few details:

  • Date of purchase
  • Store of purchase
  • Exact amount of transaction
  • Last 4 digits of the card used (card payments via a digital wallet may have different last four digits to the physical card).

Once your return refund is approved, the amount will reflect in your account within a maximum of 6 business days for online purchases and 7–21 business days for in-store purchases. You can track the status of your refund in your 'Purchase history'. If you haven’t received your refund within the specified timeline, please type 'talk to an agent' in the chat or call 1800 419 4532 to connect with a Customer Service representative for assistance.
