It works, but previous iteration had better functionalityAnonymous reviewerPrevious IKEA smart motion sensor would allow the choice of 30% vs 100% brightness - useful if you didn't want to be blinded by a high lumen TRADFRI bulb at night! - unfortunately, this version of the sensor doesn't have this functionality; it just offers on or off. Was forced to "upgrade" after my last hub died and I had to replace with a DIRIGERA hub, but I'm not convinced it's actually an upgrade!3
Working wellAnonymous reviewerI fitted this with the Ikea rechargeable batteries and found that it works well. It hasn't missed a movement detection since I installed it some two months ago. Very good product for such a cheap price.5
Works well with apple ecosystemAnonymous reviewerWorks fine. Once it detects movement it does not detect again for another minute or so. 4
Works with home assistant Anonymous reviewerPlug in, press the reset button with a pin and it will automatically appear in home assistant 5
perfectAnonymous reviewerI have this connected directly to Home Assistant via a ZigBee dongle (no hub). It actually works better than the Hue sensor I have. Great range and angle too. Works great! I'll probably get another one soon.5
Better Battery poor performanceAnonymous reviewerSlow response detection and distance, compared to the previous design. The gateway isn't required and will add an longer delay than before it may switch ON. 5
Fits the bill, works as expected...Anonymous reviewerUsed this to control lighting of doors for a PAX 2-door cabinet - open the doors, turn on the lights. It's easy to set up and the included pads help secure it in whatever angle you might need. Taking 1 star because from time to time the sensor detects movement with the doors closed - perhaps just a tad too sensitive and no way to control/adjust from the Smart App?4
Functional but with odd limitationsAnonymous reviewerI am using the Vallhorn to trigger my kitchen lights and is linked to a Dirigera hub (rather than direct to the bulbs). The problem is there appears to be no ability to use the light sensor functionality to inform when the device triggers. The motion sensor works fine but it triggers independent of light level. The light level setting button on the sensor itself makes no difference and there is no setting for it available within the app used to configure the Dirigera hub. Why it would be restricted to only a direct link between the sensor and a bulb I’m not sure. Possibly there will be an update to allow full functionality.3
So far so goodAnonymous reviewerUse case - Zigbee ZHA with Home Assistant no hub.
Connected like a dream. Turn on, set Home Assistant to listen and boom, found and configured in under two minutes.
Form: They seem solid, the casing for mounting clicks on and off with a reassuring snap. They don't feel like anything will break in a hurry.
Batteries: Have been using Energizer Extreme 1.2v 800mah rechargeable Nimh with no issues under ZHA. No false triggers so far, and using around 1-2% battery per day. On my math that means recharging every 50 days to be safe.
Range/Detection: Mostly this triggers instantaneously with no issue but occasionally there is a pause before activation. In fairness this could well be my faltering/amateur first steps at configuring Zigbee (and also using the product off spec), but it is something I would consider if using in critical environs without an Ikea hub.
So overall it's hard not to recommend these for the price - and a third of what other manufacturers charge.

A massive upgrade on the old ones. Use LADDA rechargeable batteriesAnonymous reviewerThere are a great many issues if you use the with standard batteries.
Using Ikea LADDA rechargeable batteries eliminates all the false triggers.
Assuming that you have used the LADDA batteries, these work VERY well with the Dirigera hub.
They are well made, and they have excellent sensitivity. The best feature is the ability to control the times in which the sensors are active. The options are wide. I use a sunrise / sunset schedule so the sensors don't activate lights when they're not needed.
When synced with Google home, they show up as sensors and show 'occupied' and 'unoccupied'. This allows even more options for automations.
These are great and excellent value for money.5
VallhornAnonymous reviewerWorks well. Use their rechargeable batteries or you'll get false positives.5
Can't get it to not false triggerAnonymous reviewerI've tried the Ikea rechargable batteries and various other batteries, and no matter what I do, it's always registering false triggers, driving me nuts.1
Bought with ORMANÄSAnonymous reviewerBought with ORMANÄS (strip lights). Perfect having them on a sensor. We no longer need to keep putting the light on as we had them for the stairs.5
Straightforward operationAnonymous reviewerI use a couple of these to turn on/off our indoor christmas lights and decorations in the hall/landing. Saves having to remember to turn them off when you go to bed. 5
Good, nearly perfect Anonymous reviewerThis great little device but you can select only two a bit too short times before it turn off light for you. I keep it on my kitchen so if I sip coffee too long, the light will go off at least twice while I'm there. 4
Excellent productAnonymous reviewerI now have a good deal of Ikea Tradfri items including lamps, signal repeaters, smart sockets and Vallhorn PIRs. All work on native Zigbee networks with no need for any proprietary bridges. Price is excellent and the products "just work".5
Works very well as motion detector, better than any others Ive usedAnonymous reviewerIf you use 1.5V batteries this device wall malfunction triggering all the time, you *must* use 1.2V rechargeable batteries as instructed. My only quibble is the luminosity detector cant be used to distinguish between overcast and sunny days, it flatlines at 1365 even on the most overcast days.5
Constant False TriggersAnonymous reviewerI have used both 1.5 and 1.2 batteries . 1.5 give constant false detection , 1.2 baterries give hourly false detection utterly useless1
Wow, is a big boy!!Anonymous reviewerI’ve got a couple of these installed now, they work well, great range and sensitivity. I’ve not had any false triggers like other reviewers. I’m using them with rechargeable AAA’s. I’m using them with Apple HomeKit and Siri Shortcuts to get custom automations, they are responsive so no complaints.
They are surprisingly big though! Certainly when compared to previous models. I do like the mounting options, works well in the corner of a room.5
Great productAnonymous reviewerI’ve had this 4 weeks and it works just as it should. Easy to set up, reliable and a good price.
I use Ikea rechargeable batteries 1.2v as recommended on product page. 5
