Tricky to assemble without damageAnonymous reviewerThe frame needs some force to get it to click together. Without this the paper lampshade won’t fit and I ripped the first one I assembled. I drafted in help for the second, three hands were needed! If you can assemble them without tearing the lampshade they look good.2

Impossible Anonymous reviewerThe lamp is almost impossible to assemble. There is absolutely no give in the legs you're supposed to pull the shade over. I gave up in the end.2

There is no give in the frame so you can't get it on without the pressure from your fingers tearing the paper. The legs also kept popping out and one of the clips holding the legs in place snapped. Really sad as they look beautiful and now I understand why they are so cheap. Not worth returning either as it will cost more to travel all the way back to Ikea1

Designer thoughts

With the STRANDAD lamp, I aimed for simplicity, both in terms of design and to keep the price down. The lamp had to fit into a small package and be easy to assemble. We explored different materials and shapes and ended up with this almost non-existing build: simply a paper cylinder that elegantly diffuses the light, and a metal wire base that follows the shape of the shade. It turned out this is all you need to create a nice, ambient light atmosphere throughout the home.
