The cut-out handles have a metal edge that makes the shoe cabinet more durable and is a characteristic design detail.
The legs make it easy to access and clean under the shoe cabinet.
As the cabinet only has legs at the front, it can stand close up to the wall above the skirting-board.

A good value, nicely-made shoe cabinetAnonymous reviewerAt £99, this eight-pair shoe storage is slim, minimalist, easy to assemble, and decently robust. The instructions are clear and it took about half an hour to assemble and screw to the wall. The only adjustment I had to make was to cut away a small section at the back to allow the unit to sit flush to the wall.

I've had to order adjustable feet at additional cost to modify it so it (hopefully) fits. Bad design for the money, can't understand why IKEA repeatedly do this. Nobody's skirting is 6cm high! Would not buy again.
Handy storage solutionAnonymous reviewerI now have three of these in my home, they are convenient without taking over too much of the room and look nice too. Only improvement would be to increase the legs ever so slightly so they fit over the skirting board, mine was about 5mm higher than the unit.
Doesn’t fit over normal skirtingAnonymous reviewerThe design of this isn’t great. It’s narrow, which is perfect, but unless you have very small skirting it won’t fit over it. I’m in a modern house with normal height skirting but the unit is too low. It’s also a bit of a faff to construct - lots of pieces that look similar. Overall a bit disappointed.
Regret Buying – Very Poor Build QualityAnonymous reviewerI’m really disappointed with the quality of this product. Almost every part is made from very cheap materials, yet it’s sold at a premium price. If it didn’t carry the IKEA name, I wouldn’t have even considered buying it. Unfortunately, you only realize how poor the quality is once you start assembling it by then it’s too late to return. IKEA’s quality has dropped below even no-name brands, and I regret purchasing this.

Have purchased two of these side by side - a great help in managing the show ownership of three adults. Fairly straightforward to assemble, but does require some time.
