You close the bag at the top by using the included zip slider.

So far they have been doing a good job in staying sealed and bought to go with the under bed storage box and with the air taken out, I can get 2 of this in it!
Household essentialAnonymous reviewerI have bought and tried many styles of vacuum bags over the years. They always fail and air seeps in .
But these ikea vacuum bags actualy work.
They are easy to seal with the plastic piece or even can be sealed by hand.
The air is kept out with the twist seal on the vacuum port so no leakage of air.
It shrunk my pillows down thinner than any other vacuum bag as well. I think this is because of the quality of the plastic used in the bag construction.
All round must have for any household with spare duvet/pillows/winter coats etc

I don’t know if some people have had faulty bags, but ours have been filled, emptied and refilled several times over the past year and have stayed sealed in between times. The seal is not tricky as long as you keep hold of the little sealing gidgets that come with them - they are impossible to seal by hand. I have kept one with the bags and put the spares in a couple of safe places. The size is generous - one holds our king size winter weight duvet easily.

Excellent Vacuum Space Saving BagsAnonymous reviewerThese bags are good quality and huge! I was able to put a 7.5 tog double duvet with pillows, 4 pillow cases & fitted sheets. In the second one I have a full length puffer Coat as well as 4 children’s winter coats, 2 puffer Mid length gilets and another jacket. Bought 7 more packs a few days later!

Useless, air escapes within minutes, don't waste your time or moneyAnonymous reviewerWhy do simple products just fail to work? I followed the instructions (none but I know what to do) yet despite this, I'm writing this review as 2 of the 4 bags I purchased slowly unfold and let in the air. Yes I've checked the seal numerous times and the valve is closed. One has created a problem too as one of the bags was placed in a cupboard and as it has expanded, its going to be almost impossible to remove without destroying the bag. A big fail and yet another product to end up in landfill. Totally unfit for purpose and yet again a vac bag that does not do what it's supposed too.
