Reviews

This is not just a bunk bed….Anonymous reviewerLove it! Built it on my own in a tiny box room and only used two lives! Full disclosure though. As a lone parent of two teenagers, I got it second hand. I could never afford it new in this economy but it’s the best thing for a tiny box room. My daughter now has a wardrobe in her actual bedroom, a huge desk, and lots of storage. Result! Now IKEA, how do I go about ordering a replacement back panel for the chest of drawers?5
Easier than expected Anonymous reviewerAfter reading the reviews on here we were expecting it to take a while. However… it only took 3 hours total to build 1 full bed. If you follow the instructions, have 2 people happy in their relationship and have enough space it’s easily done. Only have the boxes you need emptied and ready to go in the room you are building and the fixing laid out ready. Box 1 & 2 needed first, just the wardrobe. You will need one of the draw boxes to fit the rails for the draw below the wardrobe if you are having the bed with draws. Then boxes 3,4 & 5, the bed frame. Box 6 last, to build the desk, you will need the rest of the draws boxes will building the desk for the rails. Then add all the draws, wardrobe doors. Hope this is a more helpful review! 5
What size boxes fit in the shelfs behind the ladder?Anonymous reviewerWhat size boxes fit in the shelfs behind the ladder?5
Nightmare to buildAnonymous reviewerThis was such a hard build! It took myself and my mum 8 hours. I sent her home and then I spent another hour building the desk. The bedroom admitted was pretty small so we that didn't help but the instructions were not as clear as most IKEA builds are. My son is thrilled with the bed but I wish there was a way to move how the desk faced without having to rebuild the entire thing. The other thing - there is a good few inches of spare space at the end where the mattress fits. And across the bed, its so tight that you have to fight to get the sheets tucked in, without lifting the mattress. His mattress is a standard single so i'm not sure where they get their measurements from but expect this on your build as well.4
200cm long mattress too small!Anonymous reviewerWould of got 5 stars if the mattress fit snug! I got a 90cm x 200cm mattress for this bed which dimensions suggest. It wasn’t long enough left around a 10-15cm gap! Had to fill gap with cushions- not ideal! Other than that it took me around 10 hours to build on my own over 3 days. It’s a great bed multifunctional and saves space my son loves it just a shame no mattress seems to exist that will fit even outside of Ikea.4
Good hiding placeAnonymous reviewerComfortable but a bit too high. Good for climbing.5
Great bedAnonymous reviewerThe instructions are awful. The bed overall it great! Saves so much room and makes the room look tidy again. Would definitely recommend but make sure you’d have atleast 2 others with you to build4
Overpriced and extremely poor quality for a child’s bedAnonymous reviewerI do not understand how this product has a 4.3 rating on the IKEA website. We bought this loft bed for a child and the quality is extremely poor for the price (around £511 paid in store). Most of the bed is made from very lightweight hollow panels with a honeycomb cardboard core. The panels feel fragile, extremely light for their size, and easy to dent. For a child’s loft bed, this is unacceptable, as stability and durability should be a priority. Several panels had visible defects straight out of the packaging. I personally transported the product and can confidently say these marks were not caused by transport or assembly. The damage looks like factory or warehouse defects and shows how thin the surface layer is. I have experience with furniture and materials. At around £300–£350 this quality might be acceptable, but at over £500 it feels misleading. I would not recommend this product and regret this purchase. One star is generous.1
Question regarding buildAnonymous reviewerI am wanting to buy this bed for my son. However are you able to choose which end you want to wardrobe. In these photos it looks like the wardrobe would be the wrong end to what we need. Hope this makes sense.4
Great bed however...Anonymous reviewerThis is an absolutely fantastic bed its solid and great for space saving and storage however it was an absolute nightmare to build at the time of building it wish I had paid the nearly £200 to have it built in fact yesterday I would of paid double for someone to build it. We are great at building furniture never a problem but this bed was a different level of nightmare it took almost 12 hours and an almost divorce to finish the worst experience of my life. The bed is absolutely fantastic it really is but if you can pay the extra and have someone build it for you.4
Fantastic bed NIGHTMARE build.Anonymous reviewerI brought this for my 10 year old as she needed a more storage. Do not be fooled this is a LARGE bed BUT it does work in maximising the space for her box room. She has plenty of clothing space as well as a desk to complete her homework or arts and crafts. Solid once built HOWEVER the building of it is a nightmare. Believe reviewers when they say its a long build. Took us 5 hours in total. My husband is a mechanical engineer and is no novice at building furniture especially IKEA but this bed was horrible to build, probably didn't help building in a small room, make sure to read the instructions properly because desk placement determines which way you build it, so take note of the pics in the instructions, better still pay IKEA men to build it instead. All in all very happy with it, it works well for what we need it for. I'm happy with it.5
Good size and storageAnonymous reviewerGood sturdy bed which our daughter loves. Has lots of storage and reasonable length means it should last another 5 years at least. There were 3 negatives - the ladder is very vertical, which makes it more difficult for young children to climb than it should be - It is a bit stingy to not include the handles for the drawers and doors - The bed is a European single size not a UK single, which makes it a bit more difficult to find (and it is important to get the right size)3
Lovely bed but…Anonymous reviewerReally nice sturdy bed. Lots of storage. I looked for ages to find the right bed for my 8 year old. She needed a normal size single for a growing girl but her room is the box room so we were short for space. This bed seemed perfect. Good size, desk for homework and chill area. It doesn’t seem to big for her bedroom and she still had enough floor space. Only negative is that it took all day to build, probably about 8 hours in total. The instructions were just not very clear, the bed is designed to be built in multiple ways that would fit your desirable space so it can get confusing. Saying that though we are very pleased with it and we have one very happy 8 year old. 4
Brilliant BedAnonymous reviewerAfter reading the comments i was worried. The bed is brilliant, very sturdy!! The build time is long took me around 6 hours from start to finish. The instructions are easy to follow. Start with box 1!! then follow on in numerical order. When it says install the draw runners, DO THIS as its a pain if you leave it until the end. I have another 2 to build so will hopefully be quicker now i know what im doing. Brilliant bed, i bought 3!!!!5
Build is long. Anonymous reviewerOnly took about 12 hours to build! It's about 30 boxes in total. It's not a hard build, there is just lots of bits to it. We bought this for 7 year olds box room, after lots of agonising we went with this. So far, pleased we did. We have the wardrobe facing under the bed, and switched the doors for x3 large deep draws and a shelf. We could have had another deep draw, but since it opens under the bed we wouldn't have been able to get anything in. The shelves are great for books and toys, but are oddly really deep, we couldn't find any draw solutions for these, which is a shame as I feel you loose some space. We have then got the desk facing out of the bed. It looks really good and the little one loves it. No idea how we are going to change the sheets. 4
good but could be betterAnonymous reviewerDon't get me wrong this is a great bed, desk, wardrobe combo, but it's by no means perfect, which is a shame as it could be. The shelves have different heights and are too narrow for any accessories such as the drawers or cupboards such as those in the kallax or komplement ranges. This really limits the storage space for clothing. An extra 2-3 inches in overall height of the bed over the desk would be ideal too and provide longevity to beyond childhood into teenage years after the growth spurts.4
Amazing bed with lots of storageAnonymous reviewerGot this bed for my 10 yr old daughter, it's amazing. Wardrobe which holds plenty and a drawer under the wardrobe then a huge desk with 3 drawers. So much storage space. I built this myself over 2 days and everything went really well. So strong and sturdy. So happy with it, my daughter loves it. 5
Fantastic product but hard to assemble Anonymous reviewerThr bed is sturdy, well build, clean and good overall quality! Problem is, hours will be spent pondering the instructions .... no parts are labelled so you end up just trying to figure out what's what! With 8 boxes of parts that's a lot of bits.4
Hard to put togetherAnonymous reviewerNothing is together instructions very hard to follow I’ve built lots of flat packs but this has given me hours of hell. Parts for wardrobe in different boxes. But all built up looks great5
