"Of course it worked!", Gintare comments, showing how with a few clicks, the bottom and top of SKOTTORP both fix to the frame’s metal rings and the lampshade unfolds into a solid shape.

Difficult to put together and disappointingAnonymous reviewerI needed a basic lampshade so this seemed like a good option. However it's impossible to assemble single handedly, the clips kept pinging free, and the cover refused to stay put on the rings. You need at least three arms to manage it. I ended up returning it and buying a ready-made ex-display version from the Reuse section in store. Used it for about a week and then found a better shade elsewhere so it's now just sitting on top of a wardrobe gathering dust. Just a basic shade that if it wasn't a pain to assemble, would have been a nice but unremarkable staple.

I was able to find a small screw that I used to replace the rivet that had fallen out. It's now repaired and looks great. It's just a shame that the frame quality is so poor and leads to a poor first impression.

I tried to push the frame into position for nearly half an hour, and it pulled all my shoulder muscles and my arthritic fingers in addition to causing alot of stress. Story
A more sustainable trip for lampshades
It’s quite possible that you’ll be a little surprised when you pick up your SKOTTORP lampshade at an IKEA store or at your local parcel pick-up point. Can a 42 cm diameter lampshade really fit in that flat package? Actually, yes! It was interestingly after an unexpected phone call when we realised that it was high time to package a cone-shaped lampshade in a flat pack.
Gintare Cirbaite, a packaging engineer at IKEA, received the phone call: “It was from an employee at one of our e-commerce distribution centres and he was quite frustrated. Every time he sent a large, cone-shaped lampshade, he had to pack it in a huge box that mostly comprised of air."
