SKAFTET floor lamp base provides overhead lighting – with no ceiling outlet. You can slide the lamp base under a sofa to save floor space and combine it with any lamp shade to create a personal lamp.

Use an opal light bulb if you have an ordinary lamp shade or lamp and want an even, diffused distribution of light.
Use a clear light bulb if you have a lamp shade or lamp with a perforated or cut-out pattern or other airy, open design and want the pattern to cast effects on the wall and ceiling.
The lamp base should not be used with a glass lampshade since it is too heavy and can cause the lamp base to tip.
Special waste handling may be required. Please contact your local authorities for more information.

A Detailed Review & Advice Anonymous reviewerI purchased this lamp to put in my regular living room in my regular apartment. I was excited by it and did not do my usual measure IRL. When the lamp came, not only was the diameter of the base gigantic, the height nearly touched the ceiling. It was overall way too massive for the space. But my partner and I liked. My partner is a skilled, dexterous person. So they cut the plug off the cable so we could remove the full cable and remove 1 one of 5 rod attachments of the lamp and reduce the height. It worked. He added a better plug by re-wiring and it looks fantastic. Now, I couldn't have done any of this. I also have issues in my right arm and in general cannot lift things. The base is HEAVY. So if you have some health stuff like back pain or arthritis - ya need someone. But please please measure your space to the specs of the product in the description and see if it's suitable for your area. For us middle-income people with regular ceilings (instead of double), it's probably not.
Absolutely shocking qualityAnonymous reviewerTerrible piece by ikea, when paired with the metal lamp shade designed to go with it, it leans so heavily it topples over very easily to the point I've had to put a 5kg dumbbell to counter balance the weight. It doesnt want to work with certain e27 lightbulbs under 13 watt (its stated maximum). All the ones I used were around the 6w mark. Finally broke after 6 months when it toppled over and the light fixture wont turn on no matter which bulb I put in it. AVOID AT ALL COST. Not worth it even in a sale.

Low quality fastenings, droopy with loads of play in all jointsAnonymous reviewerIt does look nice but I'm not sure if I received a faulty product or not. There was loads of play in all the joints making up the stem, and the joint of the stem to the base, causing the whole arch to droop much more than in any of the promotional pictures.
Thinking it was just a case of ensuring everything was tightened properly I attempted to go at each fastening with the supplied hex key but ended up stripping about half of them with very little force applied, definitely not enough to actually tighten them properly. IKEA is usually decent enough quality but these must have been extremely cheap.
Even with the fastenings tight I'm not sure it would help the drooping too much.
So now I not only have a drooping lamp, it's going to be nearly impossible to take apart to return...

Lovely but HUGE!Anonymous reviewerThe photos at the time of purchase were misleading, I can see that they have updated the pictures now but it was so much bigger than anticipated. The base is heavy and needed more than one person to assemble. Once I managed to find a place that the huge lamp would fit in a stylish way I decided to keep it but wouldn't have bought it if I’d realised the size! Only real downsize with this product is that the connection over the lamp shade is forever coming apart and I need to push it in constantly!

I was worried about the assembly after reading some reviews but it's really simple to put together although the screws are tiny. It looks well made too.

Lovely lamp, but not worth the time assembling itAnonymous reviewerThis is a lovely design lamp, however it is a two person job to assemble it. You require a lot of patience to assemble it and the screws to hold it up could do with some significant improvements because they make the lamp not the safest to be around children or pets, as it’s extremely wobbly as you cannot tighten the screws properly holding the main lamp up itself.

However I underestimated how large the range of the lamp was, and it cannot go in the place I was intending it to go as the arched piece is too wide for that area. It would have been handy to take out a piece to make it smaller but unfortunately you are unable to do that with this product.
It is a lovely statement piece once you have attached the lampshade of your choice. It does not come with a shade, but you could order a large paper shade for just £2.
cannot recommendAnonymous reviewerVery fiddly to put together. Once up, the base wasn't heavy enough to support the lampshade (Mojna, as featured in one of the photos). In attempting to catch the lamp as it fell over and rotate it relative to the base, the lower screw hole was stretched and the screw fell out. I will have to resort to gaffer tape. I cannot recommend this lamp - the base is not heavy enough for the lampshades and the construction did not survive my attempts to put it together.
