Misleading product info, poor instructions - beware if you intend to cut for recess!Anonymous reviewerBought 2 of these for bathroom windows. Need to go in the recess (not want, need) which is fine as it states thats possible and I've done before. Instructions straight away I knew were wrong and advise to cut off way more than you need. Anyway, adjusted 'correctly'. Noticed there is a max length to cut off but this is next to a picture of the larger blinds. The smaller 600mm one, which I was working on said nothing. So I assumed that was fine. Marked it up, cut fabric, sawed the pole only to end up with the end of the plastic innards connected to the spring in my hand along with the pole I'd just cut off.
Clearly you are not meant to cut the 600mm blind at all. So why it does it not clearly state this is. Info about these blinds suggests they can all be cut to size for a recess. And having seen reviews now, ikea clearly aware of poor instructions. Other one now looks to be useless as will have the same issue due to cut size needed. Misleading, dishonest and waste of time and money. 1
Easy roller blind to fitAnonymous reviewerAn easy blind to fit. But no screws are now included. Only reason to give less than five stars 4
Smart blindsAnonymous reviewerLove the simplicity of these blinds …. But I have two side by side and I cannot lower them to exact equal level no matter how many attempts. Nevertheless I am delighted with them.5
Worst ikea ikea product i have ever boughtAnonymous reviewerAfter measuring and cutting they don't fit, and the end piece you are supposed to remove does not come out at all. I had to hack it to pieces to remove it and then find it still doesn't fit. Worst ikea product I have ever seen1
Very pleased - great improvement!Anonymous reviewerBought these blinds to replace some older ones which were faded - and they’re so much better than the old blinds, much easier to fit, and the damped roller is a great improvement! The template for marking the fixing holes was greatly appreciated.5
Easy to installAnonymous reviewerAlso easy to cut to size.4
Worst instructions ever Anonymous reviewerThe instructions are the worst I’ve ever seen for how to cut the blind to size for a recessed window. They are beyond a joke. The upshot is that after measuring and cutting, and despite my best efforts and considering myself to be of reasonable intelligence, they still don’t fit. How any designer could possibly have thought these instructions were of any use is beyond me. At first I thought they were instructions for a different product. 1
Blind Anonymous reviewerGood value for money 5
Fantastic blinds Anonymous reviewerIt lets light through but also gives you privacy, used for my office. The best part is that you can see outwards but people can’t see inside. 5
Sheer BlindsAnonymous reviewerDid the job perfectly.5
Good well priced blindAnonymous reviewerThis blind is good and very well priced, I'd recommend it very much as it is good design & very cheap not to mention easy to install with the guide inside to let you know how to put brackets and screws. 5
Roller blindsAnonymous reviewerGood value, although had to return because tight fit for 2 together over external doors, nothing wrong with product just didn't fit my doors.5
Instructions for fitting to the inside of the window give the wrong cutting measurements and cutting is not easy - I do not recommend trying to inside fit these blindsAnonymous reviewerI tried fitting this blind to the inside of the window opening which requires fitting the brackets to the inside sides of the window opening and cutting the fabric and pole to the correct lengths
First problem is cutting the pole. You have to remove one of the end fittings and this is not easy as it fits tightly - a tough pull with pliers on the rather thin plastic. It takes considerable force to get it back in after cutting the tube.
The second is more serious as the cutting instructions seem to be wrong (the diagrams are not as obvious as the writer probably intended) These instructions tell you to cut the fabric to 35mm less than the window width and then to cut the pole end to 5mm wider than the fabric edge. This results in a pole (including plastic end inserts) that is 21mm less than the window opening. Given that the window brackets are 5mm wide you are left with an end float of 11mm which is enough to allow the pole to drop off the fittings.1
Performs badly - broke firstAnonymous reviewerPerforms badly - broke first time in use1
DifficultAnonymous reviewerVery difficult to cut2
Not easy to put up,Anonymous reviewerNot easy to put up, had to buy some screws. Too time5
They are fineAnonymous reviewerThey are fine5
Not thick enoughAnonymous reviewerI bought this blind to cover the window in my office so I could still see my computer screen when the sun is shining without having to squint. Unfortunately, it's not thick enough to do that i.e. I still have to squint. Don't want blackout - nice that some light comes through - but it's just too much to be useful as a blind.2
Impossible to fitAnonymous reviewerWe got this blind home and tried to put it up, but it doesn't come with screws and by the time we realised this it was too late to get any - shops all closed. If we had known, we could have got some while we were out, but nowhere on the website or on the packaging does it tell you there are no screws included.
Also, it doesn't tell you anywhere what size or kind of screws you need, so I have no idea what I now need to make a special trip out to get.
Massively unhelpful.1
lovely blindAnonymous reviewergood blind and easy to fit4
