WOULD NOT PAIRAnonymous reviewerWould NOT pair with the Tradfri driver it was supplied with. Instructions are useless. Spent an hour trying all different methods listed online, nothing worked.1
Dimmer switchAnonymous reviewerPerfect switch easy to use5
Simple portable button for lightsAnonymous reviewerGreat that these now use an AAA cell for power. I use rechargable ones. I bought this to pair with a new Tradfri bulb expanding our system to another room. Adding the control to the Tradfri system was easy enough. It can be used to simply switch on and off or dim the bulb.5
UnreliableAnonymous reviewerThis remote control has good points - price, can act as a dimmer switch, size & being able to mount it magnetically but it stops there. It’s unreliable as it fails to transmit intermittently when using the on or off buttons. I’ve bought this remote control twice, on its own & as part of the TRETAKT plug set & on both occasions it’s the same issue. They were bought a year apart so being part of a “bad batch” is unlikely. I’m using two other types of IKEA smart remote control with IKEA smart devices so I know the device is not the issue & a flat battery is not part of the problem. Other than performance, an area of improvement is the location of the pairing button; it’s better on the outside rather having to remove the battery cover. This remote control is a “best seller” so I’m surprised there aren’t more reviews online.2
Smart switchAnonymous reviewerNeeded a switch for my new ceiling light. It had to be one of Ikea’s dimmers as they will only work with them, but it was so easy to program to the light and it works beautifully. All wirelessly so it was dead easy.5
The worst pairing experience of all timeAnonymous reviewerRemote now works, and it functions well, but was it worth the trouble with pairing? Absolutely not.
Manual is incorrect and does not show the correct process, and a product like this really needs to come with written instructions, not IKEA's usual 'one-size-fits-all-languages' pictograms. I've had to rely on instructions provided by users in the reviews, which is crazy. The manual never notes that a long button press is required after hitting the button 4x - so we're expectd to bang our heads against the wall punching in different combinations of buttons until we get lucky!
In my case I used this in tandem with a PILSKOTT ceiling pendant, and I've had to disassembly the light fixture from the ceiling several times before I got it to work.
Maybe IKEA intentionally made this difficult to pair to fraustrate users into buying smart hubs.
Live chat are useless when it comes to tech and will just tell you to call a number for help, who would be just as useless I'm sure.2
GreatAnonymous reviewerEasy to install and use5
Doesn't workAnonymous reviewerIt came with the Pax wardrobe lighting. I plugged in the wireless driver, lights work, put batteries in this and pressing the buttons does nothing. No idea which component is broken, there are no setup or pairing instructions1
Dimmer switchAnonymous reviewerDifficult to pair to lights. Instructions are terrible, we had to watch to YouTube videos to figure it out.
It’s not clearly marked what pressing each side of the switch will do so you end up just clicking and hoping for the best. Poor design from ikea, i expected better.

Let there be lightAnonymous reviewerDecided with installation of new kitchen to have under cabinet lighting included with the design.
Would have thought that the control could have been wired into the circuit as this control panel with probably end up being attached to the wall by the door.3
Great!Anonymous reviewerEasy to set up and love that I can easily adjust the brightness of the bathroom cabinet light.5
Remote control Anonymous reviewerWould definitely recommend this product as the lamp is very bright4
Superb value for money. Anonymous reviewerAs Zigbee remote controls go this has to be the best value. Straightforward to pair (I use Home Assistant with the Zigbee2MQTT addon) and unlike some Zigbee devices it stays connected and doesn't require periodic re-pairing. 5
Can’t get to work with Mittled lightsAnonymous reviewerBought the Rodret with Tradfri box and Mittled lights. Tried all solutions in the reviews but no luck. The instructions that come with the switch are of no use. Lights fitted but no switch to turn them on and off. Very frustrating.1
Works well - pairing instructions not goodAnonymous reviewerThis product works really well once it has been successfully paired with the hub. I tried several times to pair the product following the IKEA instructions and was unsuccessful. I had to resort to the review and the found out that it was the 4 quick presses to get it to connect to the hub and dim the lights and then the long press to complete the pairing. Once paired though they work perfectly.4
Perfect control…..Anonymous reviewerThis is a smart and useful controller for the light. 5
Amazing product Anonymous reviewerWhat a great idea to have this remote to control my lights5
Easy control Anonymous reviewerUsed this in conjunction with a Stoftmoln LED light. It can be part of your smart home by connecting to a Dirigera. I used it as a stand alone ON/OFF/DIMMER and it’s great. Recommended this product. 5
Great value wireless switchAnonymous reviewerI can't understand why anyone would complain. It's pretty perfect. It's cheaper than Chinese ZigBee switches, works perfectly and comes with IKEA's return policy and is good quality.
I use it with the IoT Portal Hub so I just press discover on the hub and press the pair button 4 times and it finds it. I've got loads of them and they all work fine.
If you're having trouble it will be the hub or whatever you're connecting it to. 4 presses to pair works every time.
It is an absolute bargain for a decent quality ZigBee switch!5
works well and works with tradfri v1Anonymous reviewerI miss the idealistic minimalism of the outgoing square switches but button batteries were wasteful and silly. The new design - battery size notwithstanding - is an unwelcome departure from the style but it's not inherently unattractive. Really I'd have far preferred passive switches but I know this isn't feasible so the move to standard AAA is a huge improvement. More than anything I'm pleased ikea have stuck to their principles with backwards compatibility to the mk1 tradfri hub, and a zigbee setup that can be used entirely disconnected from the internet or even at a pinch the controlling hub. "fails gracefully" as all good technology should.4
