The bookcase style fitting results in a less robust unit and pieces of the white finish cracking off all over. This has left numerous patches of the chipboard visible. I don’t think the quality matches the price and I am very disappointed. IKEA you need to work on the quality of your Pax frames.

Super wardrobe!Anonymous reviewerThis is an incredible piece of furniture. It looks amazing in my bedroom (purchased all mirrored doors) and was fairly easy to assemble. I live alone so assembled it myself in about 2hrs thanks to my electric screwdriver (with coffee breaks)! It is very heavy to move, though, and thankfully I didn't have to move it far - definitely assemble it in the room you want it to go into. But that weight is also represented in the sturdiness of the finished product. I didn't even have to attach it to the wall as I'd feared (I rent, so wasn't sure if be allowed to attach it to the wall). Overall I'm incredibly impressed and will be buying more in the future! Thanks IKEA!

Sometimes it can actually be OK to eavesdrop. One of our most experienced innovators overheard some colleagues talking about how tricky it can be to assemble a PAX wardrobe. It immediately triggered his creativity. How do you make it easier and faster to assemble?
“It was above all one problem with our earlier version of the PAX frame,” says Benny Andersson, a long-time technician at IKEA. “Assembling it upright was way too complicated. But assembling it and then placing it upright demanded a ceiling height higher than the wardrobe, which not everyone has.”

With the new construction, Benny and the team managed to halve the assembly time for one PAX frame. But they were still not satisfied. “We are specialists within our field, and it was valuable to bring in colleagues with different backgrounds to help out with the assembly tests. It made it possible to improve the assembly instructions further and reduce the time even more.” So, what started with an eavesdropping Benny ended with a PAX frame that can be assembled both faster and simpler. “To succeed with a project like this, all team members have to challenge and motivate each other. Our mission is to work in headwinds, and just like on a football pitch, everyone contributes to the end result.”
