ColourAnonymous reviewerMore green than grey-beige1
Flimsy pack of cardsAnonymous reviewerI had to take these down to lay new carpets. I had a run of these, 2 100cmx236 and a 50cm wide one. I took the doors off each one, then the backboard. The whole lot collapsed immediately like row of dominoes, smashing into the wall and ruining my freshly decorated room. The chipboard/particle board has just crumbled, the feet have fallen off and the front trim broken in half. Mine isn't white its the light oak, and the veneer is just like paper which has peeled off. What a mess. Was debating buying a new set of carcasses, but that would just be buying more rubbish. Now its held together with screws, braces, No Nails, some new pieces cut from real wood, a silent wish and some crossed fingers.1
Poorly made, low qualityAnonymous reviewerEveryone wants good quality at an affordable price, but this doesn’t even come close to reasonable. The quality of these wardrobes is genuinely shocking, they start to fall apart in your hands during assembly. Even the slightest knock leaves scratches and dents. It’s frustrating because you expect something at least usable, but this feels flimsy and poorly made from the start. Save your money and invest in something sturdier and more reliable, you’ll thank yourself in the long run.2
Horrific qualityAnonymous reviewerDo not bother - bought these years back and were fine - these have utterly fallen to pieces with every screw that went in, it’s compressed cardboard and utterly horrific quality. customer service don’t care spent hours and they basically said it’s not their problem.1
Poor quality - FlimsyAnonymous reviewerWish i had read the comments first. This wardrobe cannot hold its on weight, it fractured during assembly straight away. everything is just weak, i had to add 8x L shaped brackets internally to stop it from crushing under its on weight. The backboard is flimsy too and just keeps moving in and out even though its been nailed down. The addon doors are shocking, if you breathe near it the paint comes off, again they cant hold there own weight they flex like a tissue if you dont pick it up the right way. recommend at leaste 6 people per door when lifting. Big big regret. i have a table coming from ikea and just considering to cancel the order at this rate.1
Flimsy designAnonymous reviewerHave had to order one replacement frame, as flimsy design split the wood during assembly.1
Amazing !!!Anonymous reviewerCouldn't be any easier!! Seriously, built two by myself in no time at all, built 236cm high with 1.5cm clearance, such an ingenious design they are built upright, just amazing.5
Rubbish Anonymous reviewerToo flimsy, wouldn't recommend unless you want a stress headache.1
Looking greatAnonymous reviewerEasy to fix the more you do. All screws and bolts etc seem to work perfectly5
Terrible qualityAnonymous reviewerUse to love the pax wardrobe system but the new screw less system is terrible. Just hope you don’t have to move the wardrobe because it doesn’t stay together very well and the laminate and chip board split easily. The old system of attaching the back board last was much better because the frame was locked together. This all joined system only takes a slight knock and the back board breaks away. Disappointed. 1
Solid optionAnonymous reviewerPerfect alternative to custom built in wardrobes.5
Just what I neededAnonymous reviewerEasy to assemble. Clear instructions.5
Poor qualityAnonymous reviewerHad to get replacement panels after one was damaged on delivery. Now after about 6 months draw hinges have failed. Wood quality seems to be an issue, very brittle and fails easily. Can't imagine it would survive a disassembly for moving.2
100cm wide too flimsyAnonymous reviewerHad only built 50cm wide Pax in the past but bought two 100cm wide x 236cm tall this time and regret it. The frame is too big to have any structural integrity. We had to use the backboard to keep the entire thing square and the backboard itself is far too flimsy. Any slight push from a hanger or clothing on the inside makes the back flex and has popped off in places. The big frames desperately need a cross brace at the back.3
Very poor qualityAnonymous reviewerI was under no illusions these would be good quality but they were worse than expected. Very flimsy structure, cheap fittings that break easily, veneer on top of chipboard is wafer thin and splits very easily (better cross your fingers you don’t need to unscrew anything as will leave visible damage).1
FlimsyAnonymous reviewerWas so flimsy. Backboard came away from. Returned.1
PaxAnonymous reviewerGreat quality easy to assemble5
Perfect PaxAnonymous reviewerPart of a purchase for a 175 cm wardrobe Well packed Simple, clear, accurate instructions All fixtures, fittings, screws all present and correct All components clearly identified Result: a harmonious husband and wife build - quality product and a handsome piece of furniture5
Great packageAnonymous reviewerAll goes together so easily5

Unfold your PAX wardrobe

Sometimes it can actually be OK to eavesdrop. One of our most experienced innovators overheard some colleagues talking about how tricky it can be to assemble a PAX wardrobe. It immediately triggered his creativity. How do you make it easier and faster to assemble?

“It was above all one problem with our earlier version of the PAX frame,” says Benny Andersson, a long-time technician at IKEA. “Assembling it upright was way too complicated. But assembling it and then placing it upright demanded a ceiling height higher than the wardrobe, which not everyone has.”

Open it like a book

Benny began brainstorming solutions with his colleagues: what if the sides already were attached to the back when the wardrobe is delivered – so it can be mounted upright and in the right place from the beginning. The team’s solution was an innovative hinge which makes it possible to put the pieces together in the production. “Once home, you open your wardrobe like a book and click everything in place. The beauty is that you just as easily can click the frame apart if you have to move the wardrobe.”

Quick assembly with the right instructions

With the new construction, Benny and the team managed to halve the assembly time for one PAX frame. But they were still not satisfied. “We are specialists within our field, and it was valuable to bring in colleagues with different backgrounds to help out with the assembly tests. It made it possible to improve the assembly instructions further and reduce the time even more.” So, what started with an eavesdropping Benny ended with a PAX frame that can be assembled both faster and simpler. “To succeed with a project like this, all team members have to challenge and motivate each other. Our mission is to work in headwinds, and just like on a football pitch, everyone contributes to the end result.”
