Great looking but assembly unnecessarily difficultpeterbkI have just installed the Norwegian equivalent model (has a trailing lead and plug instead of being hard wired in) but otherwise the same product, particularly when it comes to assembly. The small size of the lamp and control base which contribute to its good looks make assembly unduly difficult and IKEA you really need to look into this! The fixing screws between the control box and its backing plate are too thin and the metal is too soft. The backing plate is easily bent so comes distorted. The effect is that getting those little screws to line up and avoid cross threading them is quite difficult and you need to exercise extreme care that the screws have caught the thread properly. Also, whilst the way the top of the backing plate hooks over is clever, the hook is undersize and again you have to be careful to screw the screws home and tight (difficult not to damage them on the way) to make sure the control box doesn't jut fall off. IKEA designers please consider making those screws thicker (like 3 to 4 mm) and of hardened metal so they can cut their own thread if slightly mis aligned. Also you need tiny fingers to fit the GU10 bulb in place (I reckon very difficult doing it once installed when the head faces down) as the light head is so small! Once you've successfully installed, it looks great but you have been warned!4

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.
