Reviews

Stunning rug!Anonymous reviewerThis rug is gorgeous. It's modern yet timeless and adds such warmth to my living room. It is exceptionally good quality and feels very soft under foot. I bought it online as I live on the Isle of Man so felt a little bit worried as I couldn't feel it or see it in person first. However, it is exactly as I hoped it would be and more. I am really happy with it.5

It’s handmade!

This unique piece is a celebration of traditional handicraft blended with contemporary aesthetic. Artisans have given life to the ideas of our IKEA designers using skills passed on through generations. The result is this one-of-a-kind product that bridges ancient techniques with the expressions and lifestyles of today.

Material

What is wool?

Wool is a practical natural material that usually comes from sheep. The raw wool is washed and then spun into yarn. Wool rugs have many advantages. They're soft, warm and comfortable to walk on, and they're also very hardwearing. They're stain-resistant too, because wool has it own natural oil. This means that dirt stays on the surface and doesn't penetrate into the rug. All wool rugs shed - some more, some less - vacuum them regularly to prevent the loose fibres from scattering.

Function solution

Rugs just as unique as your home

Our rugs are different, just like every home. Each one is handmade by skilled artisans using their special weaving technique where the natural materials with different textures, patterns and colours create an authentic feel. These are limited-edition rugs where the design and style are updated frequently. So choose the one that suits your home best and enjoy a unique work of art that can withstand wear and tear for many years.

Form design process

Made using the hand tufting weaving technique

With hand-tufted rugs, a design is created on a canvas using a tufting gun. This tool pushes strands of wool through the canvas to create loops on the surface. They form a pile, which can be kept shaggy, or cut to create a uniform surface. The loops are secured with a layer of latex on the back and then finished with a piece of fabric glued to it. The technique allows for the efficient production of rugs in various colours and patterns in a relatively short amount of time.

Designer thoughts

Designer thoughts

“I wanted to create a rug with a playful touch that suits most homes. The pattern is inspired by stripes – a simple expression that can be varied in millions of ways. The green colour makes MOSKITGRÄS rug feel organic, even though the pattern is graphic, and the mix of long and short piles in 100% wool creates a three-dimensional texture. I think that this rug can be appreciated by many and that it goes just as well in a bedroom as in the living room or the kitchen."
