Clear glass would have been great, but these have an off putting green tinge to them that just clashes with the gloss. Easy decision to return for my money back.

Why not make it transparent???Anonymous reviewerSo I wanted a glass top for my grey 2-drawer Malm unit. All Ikea sell is a *white* glass top. Malm drawers come in various colours, so why on earth would you not have transparent glass to go with all units?? What's the point of doing a white one to go on a unit that is already white anyway, crazy decision! I'll now have to go and have a glass top specially made to fit my grey unit. It's such a shame, as we have bought the grey Malm dressing table which comes with a clear glass top as well as other Hemnes units with clear glass toppers, which are good quality, look great and protect the surface. @Ikea - you really need to reconsider this and listen to your customers, who would really like clear glass tops for this range.
White glassAnonymous reviewerThis is not clear glass. It has a white backing. Even when placed on white Malm furniture it does not look right - it looks very green. Very disappointing that there is no option for a piece of clear glass

Material
What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
