Chipboard splinters very easily and holes badly made.Anonymous reviewerI love this design and have already put one together quite easily a couple of years ago. Bought another to keep my summer clothes in but just doesn't seem to be the same quality. The screw holes are poorly made and some of them are splintering and spreading to the side of the struts when I put the dowl plugs in. Have had to stop and order some wood glue to support them. Just hope the whole thing holds when it's finished. Quite disappointed as I've done a lot of IKEA flat packs and always found them superior to other flat packs. But this no longer holds true.
Malm DrawersAnonymous reviewerI purchase a second set of Malm drawers and found that both had the same issue, that being the centre support for the top draws are misaligned, which I believe is down to the tooling, which needs checking, as both right hand draws will not "level". Also so found the draws a real faff to put together. MFI had draws 30 years ago that were extremely simple to put together and amazingly strong too, so why these have so many parts is beyond me. Draw rollers are very noisy. Only reason I purchased, was that they are the only draws that sort of match the wardrobe I purchased. Maybe, IKEA you could look at supplying matching units....? On a good point, draw depth is good.

I have just purchased the dark grey six drawer unit and I love it.I Have previously purchased the white drawer units, bedside table drawers etc and have found they are not as bright white as they used to be many years ago. Strips of wood not coatedAnonymous reviewerPurchased this draw for the kids bedroom. We're happy with the quality and the sturdiness, however, the strips of wood that go between the draws need to be coated as it's rough wood and no matter how I fold the clothes the strip of wood catches on the clothes leaving behind tiny pieces of wood stuck to the item and I'm finding that the strip of wood I restricting how many item of clothes I can put in the draw.
Great drawer setAnonymous reviewerI have a fair bit of Malm furniture, this piece was to add to my existing bedroom set, so I knew it suited the purpose. What I didn’t know was that IKEA had CHANGED THE COLOUR!
So frustrating. It was going next to another set of drawers that are muck darker. I’ve switched every other of the wider drawers with the other set so it looks like it’s meant to be ‘stripey! But so frustrating that they should change the colour of a long standing design.

However I heard very good things from family so went ahead and ordered this, after a well known furniture shop kept sending me damaged items. I selected to pick up from a Tesco car park which was very handy. To my delight the box was undamaged and the item well protected - pristine condition. Hubby put it together no issues and it looks top quality and sturdy, Very impressed, so will be ordering from ikea in future :)
