Do not waste your moneyAnonymous reviewerHaving always purchased Ikea furniture and found it good quality and durable , to say the quality has dropped is an under statement. We order 2 sets of malm drawers for £298 . The locking screws are now plastic instead of metal like they used to be but worse are the cheap chip board struts , having tried to assemble one set of drawers 2 struts have just disintegrated. What an absolute waste of money!1

It has taken couple of hours but the final chest of drawers when built was a sturdy piece of furniture. We do like the railing on the side of drawers that make them easier to slide.5
Good Storage DrawersAnonymous reviewerAgain, seemed to take a while to put together but on the whole happy with the unit. Only slight problem was with one of the drawers. Put together exactly the same as the others but wouldn't fit into the opening (one of the small two at the top). When we finally managed to gently guide it in it didn't roll on the runners like the others. We thought this might be one of the screws not being fully in place or seated correctly so we checked all at tightened a little more. Eventually it runs fairly smoothly but not quite the same as all the others, plus when looking from the front you can notice it is slightly out of line with frame and other drawers. Not sure how this happened but we worked around it.4

What is particleboard?
