How to Fix Creaks - Bed is Perfect NowAnonymous reviewerThe bed itself is perfect and very affordable, I wouldn't change it - however. The main issue with the bed is the 'LUROY' slats and the noise they make on the metal supports. The fix for me was to put sticky felt on each end of all of the slats, where the wood touches the metal support. I also put felt all along the side of the supports to lessen side to side movement noise from the slats. My bed now makes no noise whatsoever : ) Looking online the slats have been made like this for over 6 years, it could be easily fixed by just covering the ends in felt or a material to stop the creak/rubbing on the metal runner/supports. Ikea should look into adjusting/updating the slat design. As mentioned, the bed is lovely otherwise and I can't fault anything.3
Malm black-brown bed frameAnonymous reviewerVery easy to put together and are very sturdy. I like that the 2 drawers can be put on whatever side you wish and that they are on castors (found since so much better than fixed ones. One is used by a 20 stone man so they are definitely sturdy. 5

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
