You have to take the middle pieces off to close it, which are plastic so they’re at risk of breaking or getting lost every time it’s stored away. But the most disappointing thing is the white board. This is not a white board at all. We even purchased the dry erase markers from Ikea but the white board never wipes clean. Very frustrating

Perfect easel for toddlersAnonymous reviewerPurchased as a drawing and art tool for our local toddler group. Fairly straightforward to assemble and has space for crayons and chalks on the lower part. Drawing paper roll fits nicely on the top.
Monday next will be the first group after the summer break and I’m sure that the littlies will love their new art space.

Great size and value for money Anonymous reviewerI’ve been looking for an easel for a while and wanted something big enough but not too fiddly. This is simple and very easy to put together, hurrah! A couple of things I think should be different. The hooks for holding the roll of paper are on the side where the whiteboard is. As a teacher, I know how much children love whiteboard pens, so I think the hooks should be on the blackboard side. The trays that hold the pencils, pens etc could be a little wider and ideally flat to hold little pots for paint etc.

Whiteboard is terribleAnonymous reviewerI am very disappointed with this purchase. Having arrived at click and collect to find the mala pens were out of stock, I was excited for my daughter to use the whiteboard once said pens had been onwards couriered. The pens, particularly the red, have stained the white board. The red is impossible to get out. The other colours budge with a little handsanitiser and elbow grease (certainly not easy clean however) but the red is permanently stained. My daughter has used this product once and I am so disappointed. What an absolute waste of money!

So, we rolled up our sleeves and tweaked several important details. After that, we asked some parents what they thought of the prototype. Their input helped us make the easel even smarter.
“Through the years, we’ve got some comments on the easel. For example, that the paper roll was difficult to roll up, and that it was complicated to fold up and store away the easel,” tells Jorge Omar Santoyo Henaine, who works with product development at Children’s IKEA.

But they thought it should be on both sides so two children can draw and paint at the same time. And one parent said: “My child spills and makes a mess, I want to be able to rinse the tray in the sink.” “It convinced us that it’s better if you can remove the trays. We want to make life simpler and more creative for both the children and their parents, and to succeed it’s crucial to involve them like we did that day in the store.”
