They don't fit well at the back, there's gaps you can see light through. I feel like these could have been made much easier to construct with a little thought.

Strange idea to add a door like thisAnonymous reviewerI love the idea to add a door to one (or more) sections of a Kallax unit, but I think it's a strange way to do it. On one side you have to screw into the unit itself. There are no pre-drilled holes and why not have fixings made to add just a door and not have to build a box to go inside a box? I'm sure there must be a reasoning by IKEA designers, but I cant think of it. It seems to add cost and work which IKEA usually avoids. Saying all that, it does the job and works perfectly.
I would love to hear from a designer from IKEA as to their choice of design.

Door DécorAnonymous reviewerI purchased 10 of these white KALLAX inserts with doors to transform the open cubbies into more robust closed storage for my son’s toys. They were very easy to install and look great – I added my own handles to match the room’s décor, which was simple to do.
The only downside is that once the hinges are fitted, the previous storage boxes I used in the cubbies no longer fit properly. I’ve since replaced them with smaller baskets, but it would be really helpful if IKEA offered a storage box designed to maximise the internal space when used with the door inserts.
Overall, a great product that’s sturdy, neat, and ideal for upgrading open shelving – just be aware of the reduced internal space.
More difficult to attach to the kallax than shown in the instructionsAnonymous reviewerMore difficult to attach to the kallax Then it shows in the instructions you will need a drill a screw driver does nothing to help also you need to unscrew the wall hanging safety things off the back of your unit also make sure your able to move your unit in order to get the screws in all the tricky spots and you’ll have bad wrists they do look lovely and sleek
Kallax insert with doorAnonymous reviewerI am by no means a joiner, it took several attempts messing with the different screws to get the door to sit right and open/close smoothly, I'm unsure if I have done them correctly as the little rubber stoppers don't quite sit right on a couple of my cupboards, however the instructions a easy to follow.

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board.
