Users of TRADFRI GU10’s have been forgotten aboutAnonymous reviewerI bought this bulb to replace the most recent TRADRI white spectrum GU10 which is less powerful. This one isn’t actually much brighter and I don’t like that it has 8 shades of white; it’s unnecessary as many are virtually identical. If you’re already using TRADFRI GU10s, it may get awkward. The minimal extra brightness may not be noticed in a room with several of the older types, however, problems will arise around the shades of white & dimming if they share a remote control. The TRADFRI only has 3 shades of white and by the time you’ve gone through this bulb’s range, the TRADFRI’s will have gone round more than twice & the bulbs will be out of sync. Due to the greater number of lumens, dimming will be slower & again be out of sync. Is IKEA expecting customers to replace all their existing bulbs with this one for consistency? It’s not just this light bulb in the new range with these problems.
Good - but needs better firmwareAnonymous reviewerI have used Tradfri lights since they came out many years ago and decided to move one room to Kajplats given they're 575 lumens which is super-bright. They run hot but for that brightness, expected. Ikea never provide much documentation but here goes: The bulbs work in two modes, zigbee or matter (the one I have DO allow you to use either). The documentation SHOULD tell you how to pair them. They pair with remotes OK - through my Tradfri hub but there's a few issues. Tradfri doesn't report the status of these bulbs properly in to home assistant (does for the tradfri bulbs). I can't pair bilresa in the Tradfri hub, I can only use older ikea switches like Styrbar or Rodret. They have a firmware ISSUE that bindings dont work properly (you'll know about this if you use smart home solutions) and MATTER does not allow direct binding to the remotes which was the ONE selling feature of Tradfri - it worked properly when the hub is off.. all fixable in Firmware so come on guys.
KAJPLATS Matter over Thread GU10 for Home AssistantAnonymous reviewerAdded these directly to Home Assistant via an OpenThread Border Router rather than attempt to use zigbee as some forums suggest is possible. No issues. I found the reported colour spectrum is wider than the predecessor zigbee lights with 2202K (warm) - 6500k(cool). The cool does have a slight greenish/blue tinge to it but that is very subjective without having a perfect control light side by side to compare. Great value compared to other makes. Can’t vouch for durability yet.
Great smart bulbAnonymous reviewerExactly what I was looking for in a Smart Bulb, bright and directly compatible with Apple HomeKit. Do recommend getting a few of them at the same time, it makes the Thread network stronger and a more reliable connection to the Border Router (HomePod Mini for me).
Not what we neededAnonymous reviewerWas told it should be compatible with my Hue system, but could not get it to communicate. Also got worryingly hot whilst installed. Had same issue when tried last generation of bulbs.
Don't listen to the doubtersAnonymous reviewerThese are superb 'bulbs', pair with Bilresa remote for control (or a Matter over Threads router for smart home).
These are very bright on full, almost blindingly so. The surprising feature is the range of white from brilliant to almost setting sun. All fully dimmable.
There are two issues though:
- The total lack of helpful documentation
- The slightly tricky issue of setting up multiple bulbs when used with a single remote. It works fine but you need to get each bulb into the same tonal setting after pairing so they operate correctly as a set.
Although they do just work if turned on, without a remote or connection via Matter over threads these are not a sensible choice.
Bilresa: Big button On. Small button off. Long press Big for brighter, long press Small for dimmer. Double click either to cycle through the settings
(Oh to pair them... turn each bulb off then on. Then click the hidden central button inside the Bilresa remote 4 times and wait for the pairing to complete)
Works in Zigbee mode with Home AssistantAnonymous reviewerI have these working in Zigbee mode with Home Assistant (ZHA) without any issues. The lights themselves are decent the warmer colours aren't so great bit yellowish so wouldn't recommend for a living area fine for hallways etc for the price this are great just wished the warm tones was a bit better,
Incredible value and works perfectlyAnonymous reviewerI bought two of these to incorporate into my Home Assistant setup using Matter over Thread. Pairing was a breeze and they have worked flawlessly since I set them up. They are without doubt the cheapest smart bulbs I have ever purchased (and I've bought plenty) and represent amazing value for money. One word of advice - the Matter setup code is only written in the little booklet, not on the bulb itself, so make a separate note of it and keep it safe in case you have to re-pair, move house etc.

NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE Anonymous reviewerHaving used Tradfrei thought the house, I have been forced into these new matter over thread products and they DO NOT WORK. I did not spend over £100 to be standing on a ladder for over an hour waving the hub next to a bulb trying to get it to connect! Simply not fit for purpose!
Works but not idealAnonymous reviewerThe bulbs work, and unlike the previous ones the white isn't green, but unfortunately the warm white is almost nuclear disaster yellow, and when you set the brightness from 0% to 5% they first go up to 100% which as a night light means you've blinded everyone for a fraction of a second.
