I was genuinely excited to purchase this product after hearing glowing reviews online and from friends. Unfortunately, my experience has been nothing but disappointing.
The remote control is frustratingly unreliable and extremely difficult to pair. It is far from user-friendly, and the setup process feels unnecessarily complicated. What made matters worse was feeling pushed towards purchasing an additional smart hub just to achieve basic functionality.
The instructions are equally poor. They are vague, difficult to follow, and repeatedly direct you to scan QR codes that simply lead back to the same information online, creating an endless loop with no real guidance. In the end, I had to rely on YouTube tutorials to get anywhere.
To top it off, the bulb range is not clearly labelled, making it easy to purchase the wrong product. Overall, a frustrating and misleading experience. I will be returning it and purchasing elsewhere.

It's bright, it's inexpensive, & it's smartAnonymous reviewerI bought a number of Kajplats bulbs to test. as replacements for some Lidl smart bulbs which have a habit of disappearing from my system. These bulbs are designed to work over Thread or Zigbee, but I could see no IKEA documentation to explain that (fault #1). I added them to my existing Thread network, incorporating them into my Home Assistant setup without too much hassle - except, they only connected while in the same room as my Thread Border Router, or the adjacent one. As soon as I moved a bulb to a more distant room, it disappeared from view (& control). Which was when I discovered that the bulbs are Thread End Devices (not routers). Why?!? You can install as many of these bulbs as you like, but it won't improve the quality or stability of your Thread network (fault #2). So - a nice product at a good price, but a couple of faults that mean I can't give it 5 stars. Now I need to find a way to extend my Thread network so that I get back control of my nice new bulbs.

Why pay three times as much for other makes when these in my opinion are of the same if not better quality. Well done IKEA for bringing down the cost of smart lighting
Works great with Apple HomekitAnonymous reviewerPaired this directly to an Apple TV using Matter over Thread. Light levels are good and the white balance is easy to configure and works with Adaptive lighting in Apple Home.

Awesome – truly hybrid smart LED bulbsAnonymous reviewerAt first I thought I’d been ripped off. Then I realised the design is actually genius.
These bulbs are both Matter and Zigbee. If you pair them directly with IKEA switches (like BILRESA), they intentionally switch to Zigbee for local control with no hub, and disappear from the Matter network. That looks like a failure, but it’s by design.
Once understood, it makes sense — but the instructions don’t explain this clearly.
Reset: power off/on 6 times, ~1 second each. Bulb flashes twice when reset.
Bright, flexible, and smartly engineered — just confusing until you know how they work.

Compatibility with Google Streamer via Thread - Yes!Anonymous reviewerI bought two to test. Everything connected to Google Streamer quickly and without problems. All white spectrum settings and brightness changes are available through Google Home.
Lighting quality is phenomenal Anonymous reviewerThese give off a really refined and soft light compared to any others lightbulbs I've tried (lumen for lumen), including Tradri, Solhetta, and Philips Hue. Whilst these are smart bulbs I'd recommend them regardless of the quality of the light, they have made my living room look way nicer. They also support Matter over Thread, which I've not tried yet as I am continuing to use them with my existing Zigbee STYRBAR smart switch, which look and feel way more premium than the new Matter BILRESA ones. I've yet to see the benefit of using a hub with lightbulbs since I just want to turn all my side lights on and off with a single switch.
