Perhaps I could buy a dedicated cable with a USB-C female socket on it, for a minimum of £5, to test it and see if it works then, but it hardly seems worth it. Guidance about where this lamp is likely to work (ie what sort of female USB-C socket) would have been useful before purchase. lack of guidance is rather shoddy of IKEA. I'll put it down to a bad experience.1
