Reviews

Bed is not made for teenagersVerified ReviewerMan I bought this beautiful bed but the ting that holds the slat broke.now I don’t have a bed. It cannot be fixed as the screws holding the rail have come out the wood breaking the wood.1
Great bed with lots ofVerified ReviewerGreat bed with lots of storage space!5
Lovely bedVerified ReviewerLively bed but a nightmare to put together even for my husband who’s a carpenter some screws were missing as well , but once tiger get it’s really nice5
Great Bed, but the mattresses need improvementVerified ReviewerWe bought this for the spare room. Good quality once it's built but it takes two to build and it takes time, its not a quick job and you need to have a lot of space to get it built properly so make sure you can build it in the room fully opened up with room to move around or it will be a struggle to put together. The mattresses are disappointing. We are planning to buy to proper single mattresses for it. It is not comfortable with the generic thin mattresses. So that's why it only has 3 stars for value for money and quality.5
Great bedVerified ReviewerSturdy and looks good too. My Grandaughter loves it. Will also be large enough to use when we have adult guests.5
Good solution for sons roo.Verified ReviewerVery pleased with this purchase, it is for my sons small bedroom. The flexibility to use as a bed or sofa is great as the space is very limited in his room. The extra storage is also very handy. The only reason it's 4 stars is that the ikea single is slightly smaller than a single bought from other places but it fits if you pull the bed out slightly. Early in the day delivery and was put together easily.4
Great purchaseVerified ReviewerWorth buying5
Fantastic bedVerified ReviewerBought this for my Nephew. Delivery service was brilliant and the bed itself is superb quality5
Just right!Verified ReviewerJust right!5
Perfect for visiting grandchildren.Verified ReviewerI bought this daybed to replace a double bed in spare room for visiting grandchildren. It was fairly easy to assemble and very sturdy when built. This daybed made the room look twice as big and also provided a double bed for other visitors. I upgraded the two mattresses for the spring ones and it is lovely and comfortable for children and adults. The three drawers provide excellent storage for spare bedding and toys. I am delighted with the purchase and would recommend to anyone wanting quality and style.5
Very disappointedVerified ReviewerThis is the first large product that we have bought from IkEA, and we are increibly disappointed with it. 1. I had to drill a hole for one fitting for which there was no hole! 2. The contents were short of 6 fixings for the drawers.. 3. BIG PROBLEM: The rear slats are about 5mm higher than the front slats. This gives a definite slope towards the open side of the bed, (checked out with a spirit level), which gives you a constant feeling you will fall out of the bed. An absolutely classic design fault. - We have checked the assembly instructions multiple times and are certain we have assembled the bed correctly. When In double layout and the slats are covered with only one depth of mattress, you will be able to feel every slat because of the large gap between slats. 4. Finally! - IkEA website promises : ' You have 365 days to change your mind.' Then states that items must be returned as new in original packaging! ! How can you see if the item has any faults without opening the packaging and assembling? Then you can't return the item, in 365 days or whenever !!2
Poorly madeVerified ReviewerHad the bed for just under a year... drawers have never pulled out with ease... 2 slats broke, which we replaced at our own cost, for us to discover another 3 had broken in needed support areas.1
Hemnes day bed frame with 3 drawersVerified ReviewerI have been trying to find out how to get a replacement bed they sent the wrong colour I have not been at home as I have to stay away from my son due to where I work. It was my partner that take the delivery been to the store and they was no help1
Love it but faultVerified ReviewerLove the look of it but it’s very poor quality. I’ve had it just over a year and it’s falling apart. We did put it together correctly and have triple checked so can’t see why the drawers get stuck and jammed. Also it’s stiff to pull in and out into a double bed.2
Looks great, poor quality not very safe !!!!!Verified ReviewerThis product looks the part however only had approx a month and my son fell whilst getting off the bed as a lat snapped in half . The same thing has happened to the wife too a week after 1st instance.2
Marvellous guest bedVerified ReviewerWell made, fairly easy to put together although very heavy. Perfect for our guest room and intended for use by our grandchildren. Looks great and has plenty of storage.5
Classy day bedVerified ReviewerA well designed product in my opinion5
Big deep drawsVerified ReviewerThis is a wonderful bed for my 3yr old. She sleeps in a small room so added space is essential and the three draws are very deep to put all her toys away. The added benefit of the extra bed is perfect for little sleepovers from the brother and sister.5
Bigger than thoughtVerified Reviewerwell made, happy with end product, couple of instructions a bit confusing, but watched you tube and then understood.5
Verified ReviewerVery good Finnish strong frame works well5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is fibreboard?

Fibreboard is a stable and durable material made of leftover wood from the wood industry. A durable outer layer of paint or laminate is added to the board. The difference between various types of fibreboards, such as HDF and MDF, is mainly the thickness, yet also how impact-resistant they are. This determines if we will use them for bed frames, sofa frames, kitchen fronts, wardrobe doors, or something completely different.
