I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this piece of furniture to anyone. The drawers are very easy to move in and out which is so important to me.

Not what I was expecting!Anonymous reviewerSo I’ve bought this chest of drawers to replace a 10 year old larger hemnes chest style one that is tired and falling apart (it’s gone through 2 house moves).
It is not the nice same finish as the old one though! I will be having to do the same as another reviewer and painting it so that it is a more solid white. I missed the white wash in the details when ordering and thought it’d be the same solid white as my old one…. Such a shame.
A downgraded and downsized product, but it should do the jobAnonymous reviewerI bought the chest of drawers to replace an identically named item that was about ten years old. That was a good piece of furniture that had only been broken through misuse. The new item should do the job, but a few things are worse than its predecessor: (1) it is slightly smaller, (2) it is less sturdy as less wood has been used wherever possible, e.g. there is a constructed frame between drawer slots, rather than a solid panel, (3) the finish is less glossy, with the grain showing through, and (4) the instructions are harder to follow, with minute differences between pieces not obviously shown as in the past. This - like the other points - feels like a way to save on production costs, but it adds a significant amount of time to the building of the item as it takes longer than it should to find the correct piece for almost every step.

Great qualityAnonymous reviewerReally impressed with this cabinet. Clear instructions and well designed. Good quality and well worth the money. Took me about 7 hours to build on my own. The only minor comment is that this cabinet used to have a completely smooth finish having built one about 6 years ago but the current ones have a slight wood grain effect which is not my preference.
Disappointed in the finish.Anonymous reviewerWas already prepared to spend a good few hours assembling these drawers but labelling the parts of wood would make it easier to identify what is what. More importantly, the finish of the wood on top and front is awful. You can see the rings of wood through the thin layer of paint, making it look like it has blue finger prints all over the top and front. I would be embarrassed for anyone to see my lovely home and see what looks like blue marks over a brand new piece of furniture. The whole piece is now having to painted as I’m not rebuilding another one. I will be emailing Ikea in the morning with pictures. Apart from taking a long time to build, it seems to have went together well with all parts fitting. Once painted, I’ll be buying the glass for on top which I couldn’t find online at the time of purchase.

However the wood is very soft and scratches easily- definitely needs the glass top to protect it (as I unfortunately found out). We're quite used to assembling IKEA furniture, not the easiest to figure out if you're not used to IKEA but for us it was fine.

Easy set of instructions to follow, the unit was pretty straightforward to build. I’d recommend finishing it with the glass top - which adds to much to the overall look of the unit.

My non DIY son managed to put these together fairly easily, so that’s a bonus too.
Just a shame that I can’t seem to get hold of the matching bed.
