This floor uplighter/reading lamp gives you a pleasant light upwards and out around an entire room – and directed light for reading. Both are easy to turn on and off with the switch at the lampshade’s top.

I didn't like the small shade on the new uplighter so I swapped it for the old one which is a wider shape and more sturdy. I also wish it had a longer flex but I've managed by repositioning it slightly.4

Unfortunately you have changed the design and the switch for the main light is right up beside the shade which means that you have to stand up each time you want to turn it on or off, whereas mine has both switches midway down stand and you can operate both without standing up.2
