The computer chair I neededAnonymous reviewerI went to IKEA after searching on Google for computer seats. IKEA had the range and gave me the ability to test them all. I thought the top ones would be the best and I was right. At 6 foot and 1 inch I needed a comfortable back, adjustable height, ability to slide forward and adjustable lumbar support which this chair has. I also bought the optional head rest but it did not suit my height! I am very pleased with the seat which was cheaper than others I had seen! 5
Good chair, comfortable and stableAnonymous reviewerI tried out every office chair in IKEA ( and many elsewhere) and found that this suited my frame (elderly six footer) much better than most of the others. I have been using this chair for six months now and it continues to be stable and comfortable. It is used most days, sometimes for a few hours at a time and I have not had any issues with strains or fabric burns. My only issue with the chair is that it is heavy to move. I think the reason for this is the castors have a brake system which is release when the chair is sat on. This worked very well in the store but not at home on a carpet.5
Best chair I've sat in - some cautionary talesAnonymous reviewer This is my first chair over £200, and I’m glad I went for it. At 330lb, I started with MARKUS, which was fine except for its rigid arms—they restricted leg movement and couldn’t slide under the desk. While testing in IKEA, I considered JÄRVFJÄLLET, but GRÖNFJÄLL stood out more to me. Assembly was simple, the headrest adjusts well for my 5’11” height, and the armrests are cushy, adjustable, and work well for thicker thighs as they sit deeper in the seat. The seat was firm but softened after a week, and the fabric is durable, washable, and feels premium. The adjustable seat depth and subtle lumbar support add to the comfort, and the dual tilt makes reclining nice on the back. The downsides: no tilt strength adjustment, so leaning back might feel heavy or loose depending on preference, and the fabric can fray—a lint remover is a must. Despite these, my posture has already improved, and the chair feels sturdy. It’s a solid investment, and IKEA’s return policy gives peace of mind.5
Nice chair, but terribly rough and uncomfortable fabricAnonymous reviewerThe chair is quite nice. Recline is smooth and offers a good range with the 3 tilt locks well positioned. Lumbar support unnecessary as backrest already thick and comfy. Synchronised tilt is fine, but not good like the Markus. The headrest has quite a quirky design compared to other chairs, but I liked it. The green colour looks very nice; however, the fabric is very rough to the touch and uncomfortable to lean on or brush against. The description says "tactility" but it's more accurate to describe it as abrasive as the arm rests are unusable - if you lean an elbow and move slightly it's uncomfortable and brushing your forearm against it (like when moving a computer mouse) causes friction burn. I couldn't last a single workday using it before disassembling and returning. Whilst £350 is perhaps a little expensive for the chair it's not too excessive and with a nicer, softer, fabric like on the Markus it would be almost perfect, so it's such a shame this material has been used. 1
