Transform a lamp or smaller household appliance you already have at home into a smart product with this plug.
This plug also allows you to keep track of your power usage and adjust your daily routines to save energy.
Use the IKEA Home smart app, a remote control or a motion sensor to turn the plug on or off. You can connect up to 10 plugs to one remote control or motion sensor.

Doesn’t connectAnonymous reviewerIt took me hours trying to get this working, and still no success.
I thought it was my wifi or phone or HomePod or Alexa or something else, when the reality is that many other matter devices connected very well just this new 2026 socket refuse to be added to the system. Eventually I found on Reddit many people with the same problem, someone bought 50 devices and 26 refuse to connect, so it is a hit and miss with these devices. I got unlucky with all I got none of them connect. Returning back.
New plugAnonymous reviewerI bought this plug because I was interested in the new protocol of matter. I had a little trouble connecting it. I used my Echo 4th generation. I had to switch off the 5ghz band on my EE router. I found using the numeric version of the QR code worked. Scanning the code didn't. Re set the plug and my echo. It then connected. Not sure what was different, but it worked. You just need to be patient and persevere. Google AI told me what to do. I am 77 and if I can get it to work anyone can.

Great matter smart plug, but bulkyAnonymous reviewerTrying to find affordable matter sensors is a very difficult challenge, ikea's contribution to the matter space is remarkable and their smart plugs/outlets are no different. They are very reliable and great build quality, and are the best priced matter plugs on the market. That being said, they're too bulky to fit comfortably on an extension cable without blocking neighbouring sockets.

What is IKEA thinking of?Anonymous reviewerI can’t say how this plug performs on Matter or hubs as I don’t use them & pair devices directly. The discontinued TRETAKT smart plug wouldn’t plug in fully if side by side in an extension cable strip & I bought 2 of this one hoping they’d be an improvement but they’re not. It’s good that resetting the plug & pairing devices is now easier & as before, it remembers if it was on or off before a power failure but these are overshadowed. MULTIPLES WON’T PLUG IN AT ALL IF SIDE BY SIDE IN AN EXTENSION CABLE STRIP & conventional plugs are hard up next to this smart plug. I wonder if IKEA forgets that the U.K & Éire don’t use the same electrical connections like much of Europe & hasn’t learnt from the TRETAKT. If you look at the pre-release images of the European version, the opposing parts of the exterior are flat to allow for certain sockets; use this design for the British Isles. This is now the 4th product in the new smart range that’s substandard.

Great for power monitoring and as a Thread range-extenderAnonymous reviewerI bought this more for its power monitoring features than for remote control - and also to boost the Thread radio signal for some battery-powered sensors. It's working very well with Home Assistant and a third-party Thread Border Router.
The IKEA documentation doesn't say much about its specific Thread capabilities but this is a Router Eligible End Device (REED) which automatically plays the role of a Router (effectively a 'range-extender') within the Thread radio network.
Great product at a great price pointAnonymous reviewerI've found that unlike the other ikea matter devices I have I've had to factory reset these by holding the button until the red blinking stops in order to be able to pair, but once this has been done they go into pairing mode and work great. I have it set up in home assistant with my ZBT-2 and its been very reliable and responsive so far.
I just wish the one with the bundled bilresa included for only an extra £1 had been in stock at the time of purchase.
More useful than you might thinkAnonymous reviewerYou might not have paid much attention to the word Thread, but Thread is the wireless system actually linking these and other Thread devices. The devices themselves create a network, communicating with each other and extending the network, but only mains powered devices do that. For battery life reasons, battery powered devices only receive Thread and don’t re-transmit.
Even if you don’t need a smart switch, these plugs will boost and extend your Thread network, making other Thread devices work better or over a longer range. Ikea smart bulbs also act as Thread repeaters too.
IPV6 requiredAnonymous reviewerExcellent products. Outstanding value. IKEA are leading the way.
But please note below.
Matter over thread devices are not easy to set up, if you do not have IPV6.
Please note that all matter over thread devices need IPV6 to work efficiently. If you have an Alexa border router running on an internet provider that does not support IPV6 they will not work. If you are considering a matter over thread smart home in the future? Be aware one major internet provider does not use IPV6 they only use IPV4
Whatever system you have, ensure IPV6 is running. Also add mains powered matter over thread devices first. To ensure a good mesh system.
Technical issuesAnonymous reviewerInitial connection was easy enough to matter without Ikea hub. A few issues but manageable.
Worked well for about a day but then lost connectivity to Apple home hub proving impossible to reconnect.
I will try again but don’t want to spend the money on ikeas hub when HomeKit is supposed to work.
If I can get it working it will be 5 stars.

Connects via Zigbee if Matter is not for youAnonymous reviewerThe GRILLPLATS smart plug works perfectly as intended and easily connects to the IKEA Home smart app. I use the smart plug within Home Assistant and successfully connected this to the Zigbee2MQTT app. Press the ON/OFF button 8 times when in pairing mode and this will be discovered and is fully supported, exposing the ON/OFF state and power-on behaviour. Great addition to any smart home and acts as a Zigbee router/repeater, too!
