Great design!Anonymous reviewerHonestly don't understand the fuss about this being poorly designed or the mattresses not fitting! They do fit - there's a bit of a gap as a single bed, but that's easily covered with bedding, and they're tight as a double but surely that's better than them slipping around?! The mattresses are totally fine for an overnight visitor - add a topper and you're good. The first flaw is the black plastic dowels, but as other reviewers have said you can just replace those with wood screws, easy. The second is the quality of the material provided for the bottom of the drawers, which is flimsy (same stuff as the back of a Billy bookcase) - given how well thought out the rest of the bed is, I wish they'd provided two thin pieces of ply. That said, this looks great as a day bed, is easy to pull out to make a double bed, and was the most attractive option of the many available for something of this sort. So overall, quite pleased!4
Excellent product. Loved by my teenager.Anonymous reviewerGlad we went for this one. Took time to put it together but perfect for my teenager5
Mattresses don’t fitAnonymous reviewerI wish I had seen the other review saying this! When the bed is extended the mattresses are too wide. The bed therefore cannot be used extended.2
Two included mattresses don’t fit Anonymous reviewerNice look, bad design!2
An excellent bed for a spare room.Anonymous reviewerThis was the only IKEA extendable bed that fitted the space we had available and we are pleased with our purchase. The bed extends easily to a size larger than a double bed and the storage boxes underneath add valuable storage space for bed linen etc. The basic mattress is comfortable for a guest bed.
We had a task rabbit assembly so I can't comment on the ease, or not, of putting it together.5
Fantastic bedAnonymous reviewerI am so happy with this bed, it is really comfortable and firm as I suffer with a bad back. It took a long time to put it together as there are so many components but it was worth it. Would definitely recommend as a spare bed or more permanent.5
Together or apart - adaptable for your needsAnonymous reviewerOriginally we wanted a pull-out sofa or a day bed, but this ended up being a better option for us because of its adaptability. As a single bed, it can be dressed as a day bed with pillows and throws, and once set up, you can host as a king size bed or as 2 singles. Perfect for couples or kids sharing a room. We liked the storage as use of space is crucial. However, the mattresses it came with are meant for temporary use, they're incredibly firm and so we 'upgraded' to the Afkjal set, which was easy to do at Ikea customer service. But would recommoned getting proper mattresses if meant for long term use. Also the Afkjal mattresses have a paint-thinner smell upon opening, it took 3 days to air out, windows open and fans going. 5
