Cons: This is the Dark Souls of IKEA assembly. It doesn't look difficult, but most of the screws are in very awkward positions and the drawers in particular are an absolute nightmare - we spent over an hour getting the drawer faceplates attached due to the screws refusing to engage (we ended up with 6 out of 7 holding them on) and the hook mechanism to lock the bottom of the drawer onto the sides is just obnoxious. Get a Kallax instead.
Total Waste of Time – Faulty and Frustrating ProductAnonymous reviewerI bought the FJÄLLBO sideboard and it was a complete waste of time and money. The pre-drilled holes were incorrect, and I spent 2 hours stuck on step 5 trying to figure out what was wrong. No matter what I did, the parts just didn’t line up — clearly a manufacturing fault.
I wasted fuel driving to pick this up, and even worse, I had other things planned the next day but couldn’t get to them because I had to deal with this mess. My entire day was wasted thanks to this poorly made product.
This was my first time buying this unit and definitely the last. I expect better quality from IKEA. Do not recommend.
Nice product but …Anonymous reviewerThe product looks great, but be prepared to spend over 3 hours assembling it. Unfortunately, there’s a serious fault in the guidance leaflet — and you won’t realize it until you’re nearly finished.
IKEA-please revisit and revise your assembly guide — it’s completely incorrect. I’m clearly not the only one who’s run into this problem; many other reviewers have raised the same concern. Customers are offering helpful, constructive feedback, and it’s time to take it seriously.
Accurate, user-friendly instructions are essential. Right now, the guide is confusing and misleading. Please make the necessary updates to ensure the instructions are easy, correct, and clear for everyone! And this relates to other products as well.

Awful to assemble Anonymous reviewerLooked great in shop, when unpacked no screws etc was labels, the wood had no guide holes, 3 hours later still assembling and the draws are so poorly drained as the kettle is not stable to slot together and keeps falling apart. Screws in the most difficult areas 1 hour later and still trying to put the first draw together. Only purchase if you have an endless supply of patience or some one else to assemble. Also after looking the wood for the top of the unit has a couple of dents/marks but I’m at the point of no longer caring.
Great addition to my FJALLBO collection!Anonymous reviewerI already have the TV unit and 2 storage units. This was a perfect addition to my dining area. Albeit fiddly (as there are alot of small screws), I found it easy to construct, just time consuming. Worthwhile with the finished result!
Very disappointed Anonymous reviewerThis is a lovely looking piece of furniture and looks great in my room, however, I have had to have this exchanged by customer services as the doors don’t line up and the 2nd one was exactly the same.
I’m in the process now with trying to sort this out with the complaints team as, even though they will collect it, they still expect me (and I have a disability if generalised chronic pain) to disassemble it for collection. I’ve already had to have help with assembling it twice and disassembling it once which has caused me a lot of pain and anxiety. I’m not prepared to do that again.
Let’s see what ‘customer services’ come up with. I’m certainly not accepting a third sideboard and going through this again.
Do the opposite of step 21!Anonymous reviewerBought this piece for the sitting room, and it’s absolutely perfect. Great size and fairly easy to put together. So pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy again.
However… the drawers at the end caused a bit of a nightmare as they wouldn’t insert and we couldn’t figure out what had gone wrong.
Discovered a YouTube video of someone building the same unit, and they put a component in the opposite way to how it’s shown in the booklet at step 21.
Took said piece out, flipped it and screwed the runners back on in their new positions.
Suddenly the drawers fit seamlessly!
Might warrant a reprint, IKEA. Dropped a star for this, would have been 5 stars without this issue.
Well designed unit BUT beware error in instructions.Anonymous reviewerSo, having reached the final stage (insert the draws) it was suddenly obvious that something was very wrong.
After partial disassembly we traced the problem to misleading (incorrect?) instruction at stage 21.
Only by doing what 21 warns you NOT to do, could we get the draws to level up.

Hard work, but worth it!Anonymous reviewerWhen assembled, the side board is stylish and pleasing to look upon. I’ve used mine for the likes vinyl and books and I’m very happy with it.
As to the assembly! I assembled this alone and all things considered including cutting up the mountain of packaging, we’re talking about 3 and a half hours. There’s over 100 screws and as some have already stated, many are small, tight and frustrating to place. The drawers in particular were the most frustrating. This agonising task has cost the item a star, though otherwise I’m very happy indeed!
