Broke when lifted for dustingAnonymous reviewerIt's a beautiful piece and will add character (and great light) to any setting. The globe sits big and bold on the bedside table. Indeed, I enjoyed it up until the day I picked it up briefly to dust underneath and the spring mechanism that holds the electrics to the globe somehow shattered the globe. Really disappointed. Please do be careful when maneuvering it as the globe material is not thick, and clearly not very strong. Maybe IKEA will replace it, let's see.

We wanted to get the fado light changing kit but that wasn’t available for delivery at the checkout, even though the lamp was. Very disappointing as you should have it available for delivery if you’re buying the lamp, because it’s an additional component and it’s advertised as such.

It is a lampAnonymous reviewerThe Fado is a beautiful lamp, a dome that spread light into a room and can be used as a statement piece. Now, I recommend those who purchase to also purchase a smart bulb that allows for hue and brightness changes, this will allow you to customise the aura that this bulb brings, it truly does have potential to be exactly what someone needs to elevate their space. I personally paired it with the Varmblixt and the pair make a beautifully warm and cosy feel to my space, which is exactly what I was going for to cut into some of the harsh colours dotted around my space. The lamp itself, has a few structural improvements, I.e (look at the manual on how to set it up) the light fitting, doesn’t sit flush within the dome and so it makes you think “is it secured?”, a groove for the inner bulb to sit in should be considered for a more secure fitting. Price wise, I think the lamp is worth it, it’s not too expensive and used well can genuinely transform your space. Hope my review helps

Defects in glassAnonymous reviewerThis lamp would be really awesome but there are defects in the glass sphere. There are multiple circles where the glass is thinner in places and it looks like there are holes in the glass when the light shines through. Is this a usual defect IKEA? Please contact me to discuss what can be done about this.

What is glass?
Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
