Nightmare!Anonymous reviewerAfter many years of successful building of IKEA units, this one was a nightmare. So much so, that I’m thinking of making the 100 mile round trip again and taking everything else back. Took 5 hours and even then not very sturdy. Getting the backboard in (which seemed too large) was impossible and had to resort to brute force to assemble as the pegs did not slot into place with even medium effort…
On top of this, the other product which upon unpacking is warped and dented (its a metal drawer unit) all extremely disappointing. 1
NightmareAnonymous reviewerNever have I felt the need to warn people about an item from Ikea until now. From the instructions, to the assembly to the fit this item feels alien compared to the typical cheap and reliable you would expect from Ikea.
The instructions are not clear, you have to play detective to deduce exactly in what orientation and exactly which item they refer to.
The sliding mechanism to put the last panel back on is abysmal, it's very hard to get right and then very hard to line up so it actually looks good.
And then after all that comes the doors, I hope you put the correct pin in the top and the bottom because otherwise you're taking it apart again, and even after doing it correctly good luck getting your doors to sit well or even at least similarly.
0/10 - feels like an outsourced intern project1
PerfectAnonymous reviewerPerfect for the space I wanted it for 5
Worst Ikea purchase everAnonymous reviewerI wish I had read the reviews before purchasing two of these! They are almost impossible to assemble. The screw bolts have been replaced with plastic dowels to slot the carcass together but it's a huge struggle to get the fourth piece into place with the back piece meaning the whole thing is slightly out of square so the doors do not close properly - I will probably use it without doors now. AVOID! 1
Luv itAnonymous reviewerThis cabinet was easy to put together and very good quality. IKEA does not disappoint, would luv a store in Inverness Scotland❤️5
Not worth the stress of trying to assemble themAnonymous reviewerI’ve just bought a 3rd one of these cupboards and had forgotten how difficult they are to assemble. Pushing the last side on while keeping the back board in place is very difficult. I have eventually managed it but now the board is loose on one side. Please bring quality back to ikea products and stop cheapening product materials while putting the sale price up. I would advise against buying these cupboards until they have improved the assembly design.1
AwfulAnonymous reviewerHave put 2 of the units we bought together and it has been the most stressful few hours. Had to resort to YouTube and even then it doesn’t make it any easier. We have been putting ikea furniture together for years and have NEVER struggled like this. Total waste of money 1
Shocking Design!Anonymous reviewerBought this without reading reviews - well, why would I, I've bought and built loads of Ikea furniture before! Experienced problems building so I then checked the reviews which advised Youtube videos. Thankfully, found a brilliant Spanish guy on Youtube and managed to cobble it together. Why Ikea are still punting this design after reading the reviews I'll never know. Badly packed - no protection between all of the facings so one of the doors was slightly scratched. And why aren't the holes for the feet pre-drilled like all other Ikea furniture..? The sides simply cannot be assembled without a mallet - awful, cheap design. The doors....where do I start? The 'adjustment' system is an absolute joke. I had to raise legs on two corners, effectively bending the frame, to get the doors anywhere near aligned. Thankfully the unit doors will rarely be used and the scratch is hidden in a corner. Would I buy another unit - not a chance. Worth about £35 max. Come on Ikea....sort it! 1
Wood qualityAnonymous reviewerHollow structure to the wood not sure how long it will last. Thought we were buying at least chipboard2
Difficult assemblyAnonymous reviewerDifficult assembly3
Looks cuteAnonymous reviewerInitially worried about the colour as I wanted black to match my room better, but the grey colour ended up looking cute and quite nice quality. I don't understand the 1 star reviews. We found it quite easy to assemble, but indeed it requires some drilling.5
Simple assemblyAnonymous reviewerI am not one for putting together flat packed furniture. I try to avoid it like the plague but I thought I could manage a small piece like this without turning into a frustrated rage as I looked at an unfinished, wonky contraption for someone else to rectify... This Eket was different. I did it and it took me about an hour. What made such a difference was having a Youtube tutorial at hand all the way. Everything fitted into place as I had hoped. It has dropped one star as I did struggle with the back chipboard panel which I found very hard to keep in place without it dislodging. My solution was to cut along the fold in the board (which just needed an ordinary pair of scissors) and put in the 2 pieces which made it a lot easier! I have a small gap between the 2 pieces but no one sees that! Apart from that, I am really pleased with how it fitted and looks and glad I wasn't put off by some comments made in other reviews. If I can do it, anyone can!4
Appalling, cheap materials ,impossible to put togetherAnonymous reviewerThis is the worst item I've ever bought from Ikea. Who designed this? It is almost impossible to put together the cheapo chipboard just breaks as you struggle to force it together, and the laminate just flakes off. Terrible and cheap build quality avoid.1
Great storageAnonymous reviewerGreat cupboard, simply to put together - the doors are the hardest bit. Provides great hideaway storage - it’s amazing what you can get in it5
Hard to constructAnonymous reviewerSo this is a great cabinet once finished - but so very hard to construct with the weird notched on the angles.2
Good - aligning doors wasAnonymous reviewerGood - aligning doors was slightly difficult4
Badly madeAnonymous reviewerPlastic Pins broke whilst trying to put together - the backboard was too long and not even straight so the 4th piece would not go on - I managed to make the backboard shorter by plaining it shorter myself which meant we could get the fourth board on but the doors aren’t straight and have an uneven gap around them and can’t be adjusted - the cabinet itself also moves slightly and a gap comes in The corner so don’t think it will last long !!1
Several shades of Grey !Anonymous reviewerWell designed , fairly easy to assemble and a very practical unit. We now have toning grey furniture in varying shades - wonder why not the same grey ?5
