Haven’t built IKEA furniture in a while, so this was a refresher. Arrived in 5 packages (2 mattress bags, 3 boxes). One box was very heavy (205cm, 37.5kg) and awkward to move alone. Key tip: give yourself plenty of space—I cleared the room and spread parts across others, which helped a lot.
Assembly order is pull-out section, main frame, then drawers. Instructions are about 80–85% clear but could be improved. Boxes should be labelled, as parts are spread across them and seem “missing” at first. Some diagrams, especially for drawer rollers, are misleading.
Overall, solid wood and a decent bed. Downsides: needs a front support bar, end panels look poor, one arrived scratched, and drawer panel pins should be included. Took 3–4 hours. Two people recommended if you’re not used to DIY.

Used for monthsAnonymous reviewerAfter an RTA my friends bought my spare room bed downstairs as I couldn’t manage stairs. This Brimnes bed had been used when visitors came. I have to say that despite pelvic injuries, it was incredibly comfortable and considering it was in use almost constantly day and night, it was ideal. The mattresses were supportive, height of bed very manageable and of course the big storage drawers were fantastic. I’m moving again shortly to a flat and contemplating buying this again.

Bed slats could be designed better to fit more securely. Covers could have been supplied to disguise visible screws. The two mattresses supplied as part of the set don't fit correctly when extended to make the double bed as they over hang. Would recommend buying an additional mattress topper for extra comfort.

Amazing guest bedAnonymous reviewerWe have this bed in our spare room for guests as it means when not in use it can be in the single position. When fully open it is actually larger than a king size so definitely take note of that when buying bedding!

DisappointingAnonymous reviewerDisappointed with the quality of this bed. The veneer was peeling/imperfect in some places as soon as it came out of the box.
Assembly was OK although felt a bit flimsy.
The mattresses are comfortable but when used as a single slide off each other which is not ideal and could make you fall out of bed. I have had to buy straps to hold them together which is not ideal. Comfortable enough when pulled out for occasional use.
