Far too complex to wall mount for your average userAnonymous reviewerCombining 3 Besta units (1 double, 2 singles) looks great, but getting a flush finish is probably too hard for the average DIYer. The double and single units use different factory mountings. IKEA only supplies enough screws to fix the cabinets to each other at 2 points per unit they really should supply 4 per unit to stop the frames flexing.
Uneven plasterboard easily pulls rear corners backward, opening up gaps. We used custom steel L-brackets as the rail mounting system lined up with plugs so we couldn't use them.
To install properly, Clamp and join cabinets to each other using 4 screws per side joint before securing them tightly to the wall. Then insert shims or packers behind wall brackets before tightening so the screws don't pull the rear joints open.
Besta TV Bench with DoorsAnonymous reviewerWhen you buy the TV cabinet, it comes with one double cabinet and two single cabinets. The single cabinets include hanging rails, but the double cabinet does not.
The double cabinet does include brackets to fix it directly to the wall, which are ideal if you're not adding the single units on either side.
It is virtually impossible to get everything level without buying two additional rails for the double cabinet and joining them to get one rail approximately 2.4 metres long to hang the entire unit on, especially if your walls are not perfectly flush.
The rail brackets supplied do not fit the double cabinet, so you simply need to mark and drill two 5 mm holes to attach the brackets, allowing the cabinet to hang on the rail.
Don't waste your time trying to install it without using one long rail.

A Complete Nightmare Anonymous reviewerI would describe myself as a IKEA fan. But this TV unit has been a disaster. The instructions are useless, the doors are a nightmare to align, and I’ve now had to buy extra hinges because the original ones have lost screws, it's literally taken that long to figure out how to build correctly. Over £300 all in and still lying unfinished in the middle of my living room. Avoid like the plague, unless you literally have nothing else better to do in life other than build IKEA furniture.
